It started making noise and the over heating light was aluminated. I only had a 20 watt bug light plugged in. I know its 20 watts because I normally plug it into my Ecoflow.

Im an engineer and former big box hardware store product reviewer. I was comped one of these after reporting issues with another Ryobi 18V product to Ryobi. I tried it for the first time today. It quit after 60-90 minutes of light duty use, driving a radio outside. I started with a charged 18V battery plugged in. The battery did run down, and then the radio stopped playing. Swapped the battery with our other 18V 4AH battery, but it became clear the unit was DEAD. I cant believe this pricey unit has so poor QC. For starters, it shouldve shut off, not completely failed. The manual indicates it shouldve flashed a red light in an overcurrent scenario. This didnt happen. So, I suspect an issue with the crowbar circuit or chip that senses the power output. The 18V battery dropped to the 1/4 charged level per its LEDs but this is normal light duty usage. Ryobi needs to investigate why this happened. This is a new item for them, and theyre are some that are defective. I suggest people get an extended warranty on this item. As I was comped mine, its headed to our landfill.

I purchased this for basic portable power... fans, or lighting, or whatever. But I have primarily used it to charge my phone, and charge/power a Large Bluetooth speaker. I use 6ah batteries and they last a LONG TIME. Ive used it for months now, and It has very been reliable. It has a small light which is not very bright, but is nice if you are using it in the dark to setup basic power. It is amazing during power outages to provide lighting inside the house. Definitely 5 stars. I hope it lasts a long time.

I was hoping that itll run a electric drill since the battery operated one that I have is too heavy, and the battery doesnt last that long.

We recently had a party at our house in the back yard. I had strung up lights along the perimeter of the yard to give us some nice light. I didnt notice my girl friend decided to plug in multiple stuff into the outlet with out a surge protector. Well it tripped the breaker. I plugged the lights in to this little device during the time I had to go see what happened. It actually worked really well. So I have been plugging in different devices into it just to see what it powers and for how long.

Just got this after we went through a long term power outage during Hurricane Ian. I have several 18v Ryobi tools, rapid chargers and 3 - 4ah batteries, and 2 - 3ah batteries. Our power went out early in the evening as the storm approached. Our local TV station was simulcasting on several AM stations, so we were not completely without the news. However, we had really wished we had TV to view. It was still storming, so the generator could not be dragged out in the rain and started. It got me to thinking that maybe Ryobi had an option. Sure enough, they do and this thing is one of the best options. After the fact, I went ahead and ordered this with the hopes I can at least run my TV off it. I have a 32 inch insignia TV that requires 26 watts in energy saving mode. We were able to keep this TV running for just slightly over 2 hours on a 4ah battery. This plus my lumin aid lights should keep me running through a storm long enough to get to the other side where we can get the generator out and running. I may even go grab another couple of Ryobi batteries. Or wait until the next ryobi days to grab a couple more with another free tool :)

Great tool to have while working in the field, out camping, or when the power goes out. Simply take the same battery that all other ryobi tools use, throw it in here and your good to go. My 4h 18v battery from my 1/2in drive impact lasted 8 hours running a small desk fan. The 3h 18v charged my phone so many times and still didnt die over a 3 day weekend camping. Im extremely happy I bought this.
