They are independent & free to arrange any way, unlike some of the longer, swivel ended ones I considered. A blindfolded 3 year old could put them together, nothing to it. Such a deal...still adjusting the height to be just right with my glasses, the neck, and theres 3 levels to choose. Quite happy with them!
