Everything that needs to be said about this has already been said. Its a spectacularly versatile tool, and it does what it does very well. The only thing I wish Id known when I got it is just HOW well it digs into a workpiece. I nearly broke mine using it aggressively like I would most tools; this tool doesnt need ANY pressure added to make it work, rather it usually needs pressure taken off. Great addition to the toolbox. I now strongly recommend them.

I wish I knew about this when I was new to woodworking. This Shinto rasp is awesome!! Fine and coarse sides make this a must have fit any serious or new woodworker.

This thing cuts fast, perfect in every way. Wish I had purchased sooner. Much finer cuts that a traditional rasp. You cut in every direction, which gives a consistent surface

I bought based on the reviews of many wood workers that I follow via YouTube/blogs/forums. Does not disappoint.. Removes material very quickly, so pay particular attention when using. It has quickly replaced my old rasps and delayed my trying another new rasp I bought at the same time.

This Shinto rasp cuts wood faster and with less effort than any other rasps or files Ive used. Great for shaping guitar necks and bodies.

Im starting to reach for this rasp more than my others. Its not like my others are slouches either. I work with hand tools mostly so I have an assortment of quality rasps and files. I thought this was cheap looking with the plastic handle and the design with the blades and also the price. Ive paid more than double for some of my other rasps. Dont be fooled though. Despite its looks, this thing performs top notch. It does a variety of things as well. Dont listen to other reviewers saying it can only flatten a surface. This is selling it way short of its potential. If you know how to use rasps and files you will have no problem with figuring out how to make this thing so whatever you want. Just last night I tried using for tuning up an outside corner on crown molding. And it worked very well! Pretty surprising! If that doesnt tell you all you need to know I dont know what else will. Sometimes you just have to try things out to see whats possible. This thing is a keeper and Ill be buying both sizes!
