A Modest Proposal

Honestly, I do not understand this proposal very much although it is a classical satire, because I do not know to whom this proposal is addressed, to poor people, or to politicians, or to religious people. Therefore, I really do not know what is the authors intention due to the fact that I have little knowledge and background on this topic although I tried to understand this essay by reading Wikipedia.

Classic satire. Probably not recognized as such today

Johnathan Swift crafts a brilliant satire about serious issues of his day such as the widening wealth gap, growing poverty, lack of altruistic empathy, which are even more relevant today than they were in the authors time. A must read for the modern person.

A terrific work, if a short one, satirizing treatment of the poor. Luckily, idiots that misunderstood it did not prevent this from becoming as famous as it is.

I know this is a satire but it was still uck to read! Excuse me while I go puke!

When viewed from the stand point of the author the endeavor is placed as his only option for what he sees as over population and poverty. Removing all emotional humanity from his writing and instead using only logic he misses the most important parts. First that not eating one another is in fact part of our humanity and secondly people taste just awful.

Intriguing. Some of the references were completely lost due to the time difference, but the overall ideas it presents were very interesting. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I have repeatedly tried to log in following the prompts and no matter what I do I cannot log in to Audible to listen to this. I could not tell you how the recording is because I CANNOT listen to it because after following the prompts 3 times to change my password and even though the system tells me it has been successfully updated with Audible, I CANNOT log in. I cant even log in to contact someone because you have to log in to get any help. What a horrible program!
