Acclamator 1TB PCIe 4x4 NVMe Read 7300 MB/s M.2 Solid State Drive Compatible with PS5 SSD Equipped with 1GB DDR4 Cache 2280 3D NAND TLC N70

I installed this 1tb PCIe Gen 4 NVMe in an external case and connected it via USB 4 to my MacBook Pro 16 M1Max. I then formatted it as a case sensitive encrypted APFS drive using disk utility. It shows that I have 1.02 TB of space available. This is pretty good considering the overheads of encryption.

Easy Install

I did a h2testw and CrystalDiskMark on this. Nothing to report. Got about 4000/4000. PS5 accepted the drive as well and said it could support ps5 installed games.

After upgrading to Windows 11, I ran out of room on my 256G SSD.

This Acclamator NVMe Gen4 SSD may not have much name recognition but it performs right up there with the big dogs. The speed is slightly better than the product description claims and has exhibited no installation or operational hiccups. The current 1 TB price is now just $70 which is even less than when I ordered it. So a good bargain here for those in need of some fast storage space or a new C: drive.

When you look at the specs of 5000 MB/s read and 4500 MB/s write with SLC cache, it does make you start comparing similar speed SSDs. Real-world usage the SLC cache will get you that level of speeds for a short amount of time and you rarely know what to expect. As far as benchmarks I got a peak of 5125 MB/s read and 4610 MB/s write so this SSD performed above the marketed peak speeds. For real-world usage it averaged 4894 MB/s read and 4480 MB/s write which is very impressive.

I installed this as a data-only drive in a brand new windows 11 pc. Formatted NTFS, and away we go for some informal testing.

I ordered this to replace the 250 GB SSD that came installed in my Dell Latitude laptop. 250 GB isn’t much when that is the only internal drive and there are no slots for more. While I use a number of USB thumb drives, I prefer to have enough room for all the programs and data I use on an internal drive. That way nothing gets lost or left behind. A 1 TB SSD is sufficient for that purpose.

Meets PS5 specification, works very well for the purpose.
