The package was opened already, then sealed with a piece of tape. The charging base was loose inside the box. I own the 16v version already (3-4 years old) . When charging the LED indicator blinks until fully charged. The 20v version LED stays on until fully charged, then goes out. Did not advise in the instructions. Just got it; so the jury is still out. I do notice more suction once fully charged.

I really like black and decker brand cordless vacuums. This one is rather loud but, it does a really good job picking up. I charge it and then remove it from the charger. It stays charged for about a week at a time and I use it daily for small pick ups. I do have trouble with removing the nozzle to empty then putting it back on. When I received it, it wasn’t on correctly and seemed broken but, I got it put together and now I just push the button near the on/off button and clean it out that way. As long as I don’t turn the nozzle feature it stays together. If that and the noisiness weren’t an issue, I would give it 5 stars

Oh, this beauty is so powerful!!!l Make sure you charge overnight and then you are good to go! Did the whole stairs beautifully - tons of dust and hair were no match for it! I was so tickled by it, I then walked around the rest of my 4000 sq ft home looking for dust bunnies!!!! Get it. You wont regret it!!

For about one years time, on and off, I have tried to find a cordless vacuum to be used primarily in my car. I knew that above all else it must use a lithium battery because my previous hand vac (and plenty of other devices) used Nickel Cadmium batteries. They are so consistently terrible that I refuse to ever buy something that uses Ni-Cd batteries again. My last hand vac being a Dirt Devil which was useable for about 5 minutes at best, and though I tried to maintain the battery properly it was still ruined within about a year. One of my favorite websites to shop is Woot.com and they frequently sell vacuums of all shapes and sizes from Dyson. I had bought (and I do really like) my DC-25 upright ball vacuum. So I was leaning heavily toward buying a cordless DC-34 vacuum which can be used as a hand-held or as a floor vac. The major downside: They are insanely expensive! The best price youll likely see is about $170 for a refurb. Two other things persuaded me to look elsewhere as well: The battery lasts about 10 minutes at best (but usually about 7 minutes of usefulness), and the thing is rather large and bulky for a hand vac. So, off to the web I went to try and find a vacuum with decent ratings and a lithium battery. I eventually stumbled upon the Black & Decker CHV1410L. Im glad I did. The vacuum features an attractive design, its compact, its got an absolutely tiny charging base (and still functional, happily), and other course...a lithium battery. One likely wont need the users guide to figure out how everything works. Disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, and using the vac are all quite intuitive. Still, the manual offers all the information youll need while being brief. You can read the entire guide in just a few minutes. Happily the vacuum is a bag-less canister design, and the filter is a mesh design which is easy to clean. Aside from the battery eventually wearing out, theres nothing else youll need to buy or replace in the lifetime of this vacuum. A major improvement over older hand vacuums to be sure. Not bags, no foam or paper filters! Right out the box I put the vacuum on its charging base and the battery was full within an hour. One thing to note is the extremely bright charging indicator. While it doesnt bother me I was still surprised how bright it is. You can practically use the thing as a night light ;-) The charging base itself is refreshingly small, simple, and functional. Its a disc perhaps 5 inches in diameter, virtually flat, and the vacuum simply rests on top of it. Its very easy to seat the vacuum on it and getting it to charge. The vacuum itself is very light weight and Im glad that they went with a tapered design for the business end of the nozzle. It makes vacuuming tight spaces much easier and gets the job done well. The nozzle features an interesting flip down brush which is convenient since you dont have to worry about losing the attachment but unfortunately only half of the assembly has bristles. It works well enough but Im thinking itd be better to have a full brush attachment. Suction for the vacuum is excellent and compares to a floor vac with hose attachment for effectiveness. It actually outperforms the aging plug-in canister vacuum I had been using to clean my car. Out with the old, in with the new I suppose! And this one is cordless! Noise level is less so than most floor vacs but this device isnt exactly quiet. Im not complaining about the noise level but you wouldnt want to vacuum in the middle of the night. Your family and neighbors wouldnt appreciate it! ;-) Battery life is very good for a cordless vacuum. Thus far Ive only needed it for about 5 minutes at a time but I did use it once for approximately 10 minutes straight and the suction was mostly consistent. I notice that the suction is strongest the first 2 minutes of use, it then drops off a bit but is still fairly consistent the rest of the way through. Consider the first couple of minutes Turbo Mode or something like that! In any case its a huge improvement over my previous Ni-Cd vac which was useable for only 5 minutes before beginning the steady decline to uselessness. A note: Disassembly and cleaning are a breeze, though you might have to fidget with the nozzle to get it to lock down tight with the base. Try rotating the nozzle assembly back and forth to get it locked down. If you dont the nozzle end might fall off during use. One thing to consider though is that youll be paying far more for this cordless vac than you would for a corded one. You can find a corded hand vac that performs just as well for $40 or less. Is the premium worth the convenience of a cordless vacuum? For me, yes it is. But if the price bothers you Id strongly recommend a plug-in vacuum over the future landfill youll otherwise buy if you go for a cheap cordless. Ni-Cd batteries are garbage! So, in closing. This is an excellent cordless vacuum with powerful suction, a good design, and at least 10 minutes of useful battery life. Id recommend purchasing it over ANY vac with Ni-Cd battery. Look for pricing to be $80 or less.

The strange problem we have is that it does not come with a wall-hanging accessory. This is a first for us, every hand-held vac. has a wall hanger AND the charger is not part of the wall-hanging accessory. So the device sits on the charger facing up on a shelf or the floor, and then IF you purchase the accessory you can hang it on the wall after it charges. On charger it is 18 inches tall, so our pantry shelves wont hold it unless we remove the top section first (then its about 11 inches tall on base) We werent expecting that

Bought this one to replace an older portable vacuum (died after 15 years). It uses electro-magnetic charging where you just place it on the base and it charges. Its a very strong vacuum and surpasses our older one. It uses the non-bag method filtering. It doesnt take long before its time to empty the container. I suggest emptying it sooner than later. Its a pain to empty any of the canister-type vacuums if you let the debris get higher than the full line. Otherwise you will have to use a elongate probe to pull the debris down to be able to remove it. All in all, this vacuum is strong and picks up everything we use it for i.e. cat litter, crumbs, dirt, hair, small food particles etc.

I love this thing. It’s really convenient and the power it has is REALLY good. Downside is battery life but it charges quickly plus it’s mainly just for quick clean ups

I can see why some folks hate this or have bad things to say. Let me start with this - This is a great little tool to have around the house with 4 children running around the house. Theres never a clean floor and we always find pockets of crumbs from the snacks your giving to them every 30 minutes. I digress 1. Portability and cordless feature is a saint. Works great but dont expect miracles on carpeted floors. 2. Were using this on LVP floors and stairs that are also wood flooring. I have some areas of carpet in our bdrms that this doenst perform to standards. 3. Most importantly - you gotta clean the filter right. When emptying the canister unscrew the plastic and shake it off outside so you dont breath in all that crap. This is why most this cleaner will fail on most ppl. All the connecting pieces are made of plastic and keeping those areas securely tight and keeping the filter in the canister clean and prevent it from being heavily soiled will bring longevity to the cleaner and suction power. 4. Suction isnt great but its a portable vac itll too just fine for you to sweep up a floor and corner all the garbage and take it up with this guy. I like it, have no regrets. Originally after a couple days use we thought of returning it but we found ourselves reaching for it too often and so it stays. Good product from a 150 year old company

Its a bit loud (nothing too unbearable), but it cleans damn amazing, when I emptied the bowl (I have 6 dogs, chihuahuas), it was almost a pillow of dog hair & dust (I have hardwood floor). Im not in the states (I bring it to another country, because the ones that sells here kinda sucks), so I had to buy a power adapter for 110 to 220 & it works so good! Its a must buy, its easy to clean, has great suction power, easy to reach unreachable areas, comfy to use & charges pretty fast!
