> 3 dayI read John Grishams book Skipping Christmas a few years ago, about other peoples expectations of us at the holidays and what happens we someone dares to say, Im opting out this year! When this movie came out, it was not entirely what I expected and seemed a bit cheesy at first, but it has really grown on me over the seasons. A great cast including Dan Akroyd, Tom Poston and Cheech Marin make the movie work well. I love the scene with Jamie Leigh trying to get the last holiday ham! She is so great at physical comedy. As a mom whose youngest son lives out of the country, I would do the same in a heartbeat if he showed up for Christmas.

Greater than one weekAm I the only one who noticed that this was a remake of the Dr. Seuss classic? Theres at least one scene lifted directly from the childrens book. This is one of my all-time favorite Christmas stories. I love the tension between wanting to celebrate Christmas (or not) your own way versus wanting to give joy to others. Krank (the Grinch, get it?) wants to avoid the stress and nonsense of Christmas and goes overboard, trying to reject the whole holiday.
