Corsair RMX White Series (2018), RM850x, 850 Watt, 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular Power Supply - White, 80 PLUS Gold (CP-9020188-NA)

I purchased this in 2018, and its currently still in my PC.

Im using this power supply with an MSI Z490-A Pro motherboard and an Intel Core i7 processor. I had previously assembled this PC with a 2 year old power supply, but it couldnt supply the CPU power required.

My husband’s job is in the computer engineering field, and we own many, many computer-related items. He saw this and had to have it. He said he wanted it to replace the OEM power supply in an eight year old Dell Optiplex 790 that has been running FreeBSD 24/7 as a lightweight personal server. He stress tested it for two weeks with regular load plus power intensive CPU and hard drive loads using the stress-ng utility and observed no problems or excessive noise. My husband really likes that this has modular cables because there are no unused/spares to tie up out of way or to block airflow. This supply’s connectors are tight and have a thumb-clip to hold it/them in place. When powered-on, the fan spins up then turns off in less than a minute in what Corsair is calling Zero RPM fan mode. However, if a high CPU or hard drive load is imposed on the system the fan spins up again. We like this but would caution that this could cause localized excessive heat (e.g. hard drive) inside any computer cases that are designed with the assumption that the power supply fan is always moving air through the case. When it is on at what is assumed full speed, the 140mm fan is large enough to move a good volume of air fairly quietly. As it isn’t listed what come with this power supply, it includes: 1 modular 24-Pin ATX motherboard power cable, 2 modular cables, each supplying power to three SATA drive power connectors, 1 modular cable that supplies power to four IDE (a.k.a 4-Pin Molex) drive power connector, 2 modular cables, each supplying power to two 6/8 combo PCIe power connectors, 2 modular 8-Pin CPU power cables (EPS12V), 4 black case screws, and 10 black tie-wraps. We are both very happy with this, and I highly recommend it!

The power supply unit itself is small surprisingly and its nice to look at given the color and the compact size of it.

Purchased because it was white and available. (At time of purchase, there werent a lot of reasonably priced options in white.) It was installed in a white Corsair 5000D Airflow case, and it looks good doing what PSUs do. Not much else to say about it, seems a quality build, and the PC is probably not coming close to even stressing it out. (No high power GPU in the case because who is crazy enough to buy one at four times the normal price during the current covid induced supply constraints.)

Love this PSU. Fully modular so no extra cabling to hide. Gorgeous white cables that really keep the inside of my case looking amazing. Very easy to install, cables flex nicely and connectors are solid.

Upgraded from a 550 off brand that came with my original build. Biggest upside was that my original was. Not fully modular and this was. Like why do they even make power supplies not fully modular? This was a huge step up for me.
