> 24 hourI purchased the SSD based on the claimed spec and performance. After fitting on a new i5 desktop system, I ran a few disk testing utilities and found that the claimed performance is way exaggerated. Its about 50-70% of the numbers claimed. I am not a gamer and dont need intensive I/O so, Ill move on. Next, I do need and use Encryption. The drive claims to have hardware encryption. I am an IT pro and do use managed FDE in the real world. This drive was for home but still, I use encryption. I tried to encrypt with a new install of Windows 10 pro (latest built). It would only encrypt using Bitlocker in software mode. In other words, not using the claimed hardware encryption. This is theoretically slower. I did about 4 hours research and called and chatted with Crucials tech support and found it to be useless. They refered me to documents I had already read and did not understand the issue. I tried 3 different calls and two chat sessions, aweful experience. I know that Windows 10 disabled hardware encryption by default a year or so ago but I also know the workarounds using GPO. Nothing worked, Bios was set for UEFI, and a lot of other settings and registry changes made. Result is not to use HW encryption on this hardware, Even if I got it working, I doubt its reliability and sustainability. For now, Ill keep the drive but will never buy Crucial products again.

> 24 hourThis review is an update, as theyre not separating the P5 from P5 plus in reviews. For the non pus model, the product itself is great but there were no nvme screws. I realize most motherboards come with them but at the price tag they could include $1 worth of hardware. Please note the non plus is NOT compatible with a ps5 For the P5 Plus - This is the best budget SSD you can currently get for the PS5. Yes, you will have to get your own heat sink and install that yourself, but that cost is like $10 at the most. you will not find another SSD that even competes at the price, and definitely not one with a heatsink. also ironically, the p5 plus has a screw, just the plain p5 doesnt.

> 24 hourthe software that came with the drive made my life easier, I copied from a standard ssd drive the whole system as it is to this drive. (I know its not recommended to do it that way but Im lazy).

> 24 hourI upgraded my Dell G3 3779 laptop by replacing the original C: drive, a SK hynix 128 GB SSD, with this Crucial P5 1TB. Higher performance and much greater capacity. I used a USB 3.1 NVMe PCIe enclosure (amazon # B07MNFH1PX) to clone the SSD to the P5. I used the clone function from a free copy of Macrium Reflect rather than the Crucial version of Acronis True Image because Acronis requires installation of the new SSD before doing a clone & Macrium allowed me to do the clone prior to opening the laptop. Macrium also allowed for an easy resize of the main ssd partition to allow full use of the larger space. The install was pretty painless and the machine booted from the new drive immediately following the install. No problems & very happy with the result. I had verified compatibility via the Crucial configuration tool on their web site before ordering via Amazon. Crystal disk mark verified the drive met its published specs.

> 24 hourThe installation was easier than I expected, but I was not able to get the downloadable Acronis True Image software for Crucial to recognize the new drive while I was cloning the old SSD to the Crucial (I was using the Crucial in an external sidecar enclosure). I downloaded a freeware cloning software package that took care of that problem. Other than that, its currently in my Dell XPS 8920 and performing without any problems.

> 24 hourFor gaming and a boit drive, it works really well. I will note that the screw cut out is a little big so it could be tricky to install. Also, it is not a full size m.2 drive. So on my motherboard it was actually between the longest screw and the shortest.

> 24 hourBeen using this as my main boot drive for my gaming PC for quite a while now. Ive been having no issues with this drive whatsoever. Im planning on buying more of these in the future. For me, its always Crucial/Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung for SSDs.

> 24 hourVery fast! Replacing an SSd can be tricky - the cloning software provided worked, but resulted in two drives since the Crucial was twice the size of the original. It was easier for me to backup my system to a memory stick, replace the SSD with the new Crucial and then restore the system from the memory stick.
