You place a pin inside the tiny hole at the bottom to anchor the gauge to your fabric, set the radius by clicking on the green tab to lock it in, place your pencil in the slot above the green tab, and turn the gauge as you draw the circle. The plastic slide is rather flimsy and moves very easily. It is not as useful as I would have hoped.

My preference for steam gauge is either an Omnigrid ruler, a piece of cardboard cut to the actual shape of the hem that I want to make (that I then roll the hem over and then press over), or for actual measurement the Nancy Zieman gauge that adjusts. But considering this item is only two dollars its a really good compromise. It also can be used as a point Turner- although my fist preference is a dedicated point Turner made out of hard plastic, or a Bodkin, or a chopstick, or varous seaming techniques. But for a combo item for beginners, it cant be beat.

2 arrived in large separate packaging - wasteful for the environment. The item is in excellent condition, but bends easily - the metal is a bit thin. Item works as it should.

Its flimsy and the slide moves with the slightest of touches but for its purpose it doesnt have to be fabulous.

Item came bent. Cannot be returned or replaced. Beware!

The sliding marker broke and fell off after the first use.

Using to make sure hems are even, works fine although I wish the measurement started at the point rather than base of point/arrow part.

The measurements are accurate and the turning point useful, but the metal is low quality and bends too easily. Get a nicer version if you can afford it! I think Dritz even makes a steel (rather than aluminum) one in black.

I love the added inch on this gauge and the point turner feature.
