> 3 dayI sat in front of this for the first time, put a good movie in the bd player and my jaw dropped. I just sat there awed and the only word that came to my mouth was wow. Later a friend came to see, and he had exactly the same reaction. Wow. The detail was amazing. Admittedly, I am not a videophile in its truest form but I have an appreciation for a good display and for the price this one definitely qualifies. I have it mounted about 12 ft from a homemade screen that I made using Carls Blackout Cloth, and it give me a picture approximately 120 in diag. The image is so bright, I use the eco mode and it still displays a nice picture with soft lights on in the room. This projector also has a horizontal keystone adjustment that allows me to mount the projector to the ceiling off to the side instead of in the center. There are two things that in a perfect world might be considered negatives. One, it is somewhat noisy when there is nothing playing on the screen. Not an issue when the movie is on. The second thing is because I have the projector mounted to the side. I can see a light reflection below the lower rh side of my screen. It is probably a reflection off the lens and it is in shape that you would get if you moved the projector off center and didnt use the horizontal keystone to correct for it. I didnt notice it at all when I had the projector centered, so I am sure it is a product of the keystone correction. Neither is bad enough to dampen my enjoyment of this piece of equipment in any way.

> 3 dayBought this Projector with the hopes of creating a home theater. While I have gone back and started redoing the walls for the theatre room, while this was up the picture quality was awesome and the video brightness was acceptable in the normal/eco modes. It has plenty of inputs, and the remote worked well. They Keystone also worked amazingly well for when I had sat the projector at a funky angle. It was able to throw it on the wall at an angle, compensate and make it nearly level/flush. The one issue with doing this is that it slightly goes out of focus because of it throwing further in certain corners. I did not leave it like that, but I used it for a few days like that. Noise wise, it isnt bad at all. To me it just sounds like a quiet fan, Im not worried about it, but would definitely consider building a box with fabric on the inside that would dampen the noise for a purely theatre feel. IT DOES 3D. Bought some cheap 3D glasses (active) and they were recognized by the projector. Also had to fiddle with the blu-ray player to get passive 3D to work. Both types worked for me. The quality is very good considering the price point. I personally could not understand wanting to spend more money for a projector with the same features and maybe slightly further throw distance. When I was working for AT&T as a wire technician I would see many types of projectors in use. I feel like I have saved a lot of money because many of the customers paid multiple thousands for a projector with no significant quality difference in my opinion. Remote works well from various angles.

> 3 dayOne very important note. DO not use this with a throw distance over 18 feet. It cant scale down enough. Mine is displayed on the side walls and I cant adjust it any smaller. Update: 9/10/18. The power cord that comes with it could stand to stick into the prongs a bit better. When we recently moved this to a throw of about 17 feet and tried to maneuver it to the right height and mark the ceiling hole, it would cut out as we were holding it. Thought it was the lamp, no, it was just the cord coming slightly loose in the projector. So far though, aside from the shorter throw limit, it has worked flawlessly. Son uses it for gaming and wife and I use it for movie watching. We didnt paint he dang wall, and it seems fine for all of us. No screen pain or special cloth. We all still enjoy it. Its hard to complain when your TV just grew to a 9x7 picture.

Greater than one weekI have spent much more on projectors, but this is my favorite so far. The picture quality in a light controlled room is excellent, and the picture quality in a room with moderate ambient light is fine. I love that replacement bulbs are easily acquired for under $100. My past projectors required builds over $300. At the price of bulbs for this projectors, its easy to update when the picture dims, rather than dealing with a faded picture and waiting for the bulb to pop. I was looking for a budget projector. I wanted a good movie watching experience. I have all that and more and I am well pleased. There are projectors in this price range with better contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is important. I may well like those projectors better if I tried one. I chose this one because of the cost replacement bulbs. I was not concerned with having the best and newest. That can get expensive. I wanted a great movie watching experience for an affordable price.

> 3 dayI purchased this unit as a replacement for a Benq W1070 DLP projector. I had read many great things about Epson projectors, and hoped to enjoy this one as much as I did my last projector. Unfortunately it turns out that the LCD technology that this projector and other like it use, just isnt for me. it is not inherently BAD, but the black levels are simply nothing close to what they are on a DLP projector. All of the color contrast in the world simply doesnt make up for the fact that this projector can only produce a dark gray on its best day. That being said, I am sure that there are plenty of happy owners out there, this one just wasnt for me. Pros: -Easy installation -Fast startup and shutdown -Able to be used in rooms with ambient light -Cheap replacement bulbs Cons: -Poor black levels -Heavy pixelation compared to DLP at same seating/throw distance -Image dimming effect based on amount of white/ black on screen Bottom Line: Make your own judgment, but if you want a Movie Theater Quality projector experience, stick with DLP.

Greater than one weekProbably the best value in 3D 1080p projectors when I bought it earlier this year. Might still be. I came from an older DLP projector, and this Epson is at least as good in terms of color and overall image quality as that. 3D works very well with Panasonic TY-ER3D4MU glasses. Shutdown takes only a few seconds, unlike the DLP which needed to cool off first. The fan is noisy, but I use surround headphones so its fine for me. May be a problem for you if you use speakers exclusively and you are close to the projector. There is not a major difference in actual brightness between the economy and bright modes for some reason, but the fan is noticeably louder in bright mode. I just keep it in economy mode for simplicity and to save the bulb. Some other things: - Optical zoom adjustments are narrow, making placement a bit awkward in my case. - Fewer holes on bottom than normal for ceiling mount. Had to be extra creative with my existing mount. - AV Mute is a just stupid manual lens cover. I forget about this sometimes. - Remote is not backlit, hard to see buttons in the dark. - No component input. What cancels out all the negatives is that the official bulbs are C-H-E-A-P. Cheap enough that I use this as my primary TV now. Hopefully the rest of the unit lasts a long time.

Greater than one weekI received this projector a week and a half ago, everything is set up fine on the ceiling mount. It worked great for about 6 days, then a faint bar appeared on the left side of the screen which almost looked like burn-in but it seems to be an image processing issue or defect. The bar has a thin white line that intermittently shows up on top. The warranty looks legitimate, and I will revise my review if the customer service/technical support resolves the issue promptly. Like I said the projector was great until the defect appeared. Revised, after some trouble shooting, figured out the problem with technical support. Everything appears to be working back to normal, image is great, responsiveness when playing games is great, warranty and cost of replacement bulbs is unbeatable. Highly recommended as the best all around in this price range, tried playing FIFA with a friend on a BENQ and it was almost unplayable with the delay, the Epson is pretty much just as good as an LCD TV in terms of responsiveness.

Greater than one weekAfter much thought and consideration into either jumping into 4k vs purchasing a projector I took the plunge and went with the 2040. While a few DLP units in this price range offered better contrast ratio I ultimately went with the Epson fearing I may notice the rainbow effect that DLP units tend to produce. Projecting onto a tan wall for the first month of ownership the contrast was absolutely terrible and color looked unappealingly and washed out. My room is light controlled, so after some extensive research into projector screens I went with a 92 Grey screen with a 1.0 gain by Silver Ticket. Wow, colors now seem to pop and contrast is on par with my Samsung LED TV. This Epson unit is fantastic when paired with a worthy screen. Input lag is minimal and playing games like Battlefield 1 and Street Fighter 5 show zero input lag. I still get a bit giddy every time I put a Blu-Ray on. Movies come to life in both 2d and 3d modes, and I have nothing but good things to say about this Epson. Color me impressed.

Greater than one weekI purchased this projector exactly 1 year ago on black Friday for $499 and I have put about 100 hours on it. It was my first projector purchase and we have really enjoyed it! Pros: Video games and animated movies look awesome! If I ever use it enough the replacement bulbs are cheap. Neutral: Quite a few people said the black levels were not the greatest, I dont notice it too much and for the price I am not complaining! Watching TV on it through XBox One looks good but when watching sports I do notice some motion blur when the screen pans very fast. I have messed with frame interpolation setting but it still exists. Cons: No Lens Shift. I wish I would have researched this more when I made the purchase. If you want to hang it on your ceiling it is going to hang really far down. For now it is sitting on a stand in the middle of the room. This is the only reason I took 1 star off.

> 3 daySo this is my first projector and I am sold. I probably read hundreds of reviews on different Epson projectors and I eventually chose this one for price and capabilities. I had a 60inch Vizio E series tv before this and I was very to go bigger without buying a bigger tv. I havent noticed any difference in quality when comparing the projector to my tv which is great. I will admit though that my tv in my bedroom which is a M series has more clarity than the projector. That being said, I know there are projectors that have better quality but I had a budget which was under 1k and I haven not been disappointed at all with this projector! If you want your 1080HD experience then this projector is the way to go. It also does really well for lights being on. I have windows and a lot of natural light that gets into my den and this projector holds up well in lighting, even in Eco mode. If you want super crisp and clean then clearly a more expensive projector like the 3000 series is the way to go. I do intend to one day upgrade to the top notch kind of projector, but for now this one is perfectly fine when considering I now have virtually a 150 tv for only a hundred dollars more than my 60. I took two pictures. One is the Apple tv screen which shows the great clarity and the other is of a movie I was watching. The quality was based on my actual internet which isnt the best, but when it is streaming well the quality is great!
