> 3 dayI found this projector to be too bright for a 84 diagonal screen. Beyond putting the lamp in ECO mode, there is no variable lamp brightness control. I spoke with epson customer service and they confirmed this. The projector is great during the day, but it is blinding at night, even on its dimmest setting. It seems like other epson projectors have a 30-100% lamp brightness control, but not this one. Its too bad because it is hard to find a 4k projector with a long-throw lens like this one has. Otherwise, the projector seemed great. If you have ambient light or a much larger screen, this would be a good choice.

Greater than one weekWe installed this in a new media room weve built, and it has exceeded all our expectations. The picture quality is outstanding, far better than I expected even from a projector that touts 4K resolution. The bulb is also nice and bright, and the picture is easily visible even with the theater lighting turned all the way up in the room. We easily integrated the projector into a surround sound system, as well as a multiport HDMI switch to allow easy changes, and there were no issues at all from the Epson with handling the inputs/outputs. The projector was a little interesting to get mounted and aimed. Our mounting position was slightly off center, with a relatively short throw of 16 for a 110 screen. The on projector dials, and the digital controls were not wholly intuitive, so it took about an hour to get the screen dialed in where the image was crisp and properly square. We hit the adjustment limit a couple times as well, so it took some repeated adjustments in several places to get it there. That said, once it was set, its been two months and its been rock solid without any issues.

Greater than one weekBought the refurbished model. Seems to be working so far. Great picture quality. Best in a very dark room. I have an apple tv 4K device installed on it as well as a vizio soundbar with wireless subwoofer and surround speakers. Also using a 100 inch screen. Great for movies and sports.

> 3 dayMy 2 yr old LG smart LED projector died from what I suspect was a lighting surge - so after being unable to find a repair shop that could even look at it, I decided to buy this Epson projector. I’ve had excellent experience with other Epson printers in past and they seem to be one of the leaders in the market. We are extremely pleased with it so far. Pros: - image quality and brightness - warranty period - solid build quality (made in Philippines) - kind of subjective but still important to me. - easy setup and adjustability. - low noise on eco mode. On brighter mode it’s more noticeable on quiet movies but still not distracting. Cons: - a bit pricey... - bulkier than our old projector - had to replace the bracket for a stronger one. - having trouble to power off projector from fire stick 4K remote - power on is no problem. May be a fire stick issue. - the manual is on line so keep a device handy during install because navigating menus and setup required manual. - life expectancy of bulb About our setup: - ceiling mount (upside down - very simple menu pick to flip image) using the Epson bracket sold separately for 100 or so dollars. Very solid bracket by the way installed easily. - I installed a surge protector outlet in the ceiling (Leviton) to prevent same fate as first projector. This avoids the ugly look of a surge protector - install took about 1.5 hour or so. Included putting up new bracket and surge outlet - and adjusting picture. - 110 inch screen. Mounted projector about 12-13 ft from screen. - using with fire stick 4K but Slight issue with power off from the fire stick remote. - set to eco mode Overall very pleased with purchase and experience. Recommended.

> 3 dayI have owned literally a dozen projectors but the only ones still used daily in my home are all Epsons due to their quality, ease of use, and price point. The family room has a UST Epson that is brilliant for its use case but it lacks 4K. 4K is reserved for the proper theater room and thats where the 3800 comes in. The 3800 hits a great price point for its performance. Its not as elegant as the 5040 since it lacks the automatic lens controls (which are so handy) but if your install is fairly simple then the 3800 gives you virtually the same picture quality at a fraction of the cost of the 5040. Its plenty bright for a theater room and will even work well in a family room after dark but if you dont have any light control then it will struggle in rooms with excessive windows during the day. Image purists will argue that Epson doesnt have true 4K due to their pixel shifting, however plenty of reviews will tell. you the same thing, you just need to see it in person and decide for yourself if you can see the different. Price wise it is still a big jump in cost to get a real 4K projector and even after paying that price you wont get one that can put out the number of lumens that this 3800 can. This is a perfect family home theater room projector at a good price. Its not a $5k or $15k Sony thats going in some high end custom theater but it will blow the family away in any modest home theater. Im running this on a 135 screen in a theater room with no windows. Its quiet, plenty bright, beautiful colors and simply great for the price point. If you own a 1080P projector and have access to 4K content on streaming services then I highly recommend taking the plunge and upgrading to see what youve been missing.

> 3 dayExcellent color, contrast and brightness. Input lag is good enough for console gamers. The ECO mode is quite. I like 3LCD projector more than DLP projector. They have better color and contrast. If you are like me, looking for a 3LCD projector, for movies and gaming, and 4K, Epson product line is definitely what you can’t miss. And this one, HC3800, is the best at $1000-$2000. I love it! (This is a late review. I bought the projector one year ago. I’ve been enjoying it for the past whole year. I am so glad that I did a right decision a year ago)

> 3 dayJust buy it, but plan on having Netflix premium. You wont want to watch anything that is not Ultra HD 4K. I painted the wall with Behr silver screen from home depot. I have 134 inch picture in a 12 foot room. The picture quality is beyond amazing. I just hope this thing lasts for a while.
