Worked great for a couple of months now the smart aspect of it works every so often making it the same as a simple power strip.

As is common today, the device comes with sparse (3-steps) instructions. On 3 different devices (iPad, Pixel 6 phone, and MacBook Pro) I couldnt get the Kasa app to let me establish an account. So, after knocking my head against the wall for over an hour, I went to sleep and called TP-Link tech support the next morning. The agent was excellent. Two important missing pieces she told me are: (1) all consumer-facing TP-Link accounts associated with a particular email address use the identical username & password, and (2) despite them telling you passwords should have a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters, TP-Links security doesnt always play nice with special characters. Once I got rid of them and adjusted the multiple TP-Link accounts in my password keeper, I was finally able to set up the Kasa app. The next problem was adding the device to the app. The instructions say to make sure the KP303 and device on which Kasa software is installed are running on the same network. I thought this meant the network configured in my router. (I thought they were using something like a temporary Bluetooth network to have the KP303 learn what network to use.) But nothing worked. The app has a useful trouble-shooting window if this fails, but nothing on it helped. After two failures and a waste of about 1/2 hour, I noticed that a TP-named network appeared on my list of available networks (in Settings) when I plugged in the KP303. Wouldnt it be nice if they mentioned this when they told you to make sure the two devices were on the same network? Once I connected to this network on my iPad, everything went rather smoothly. The last start-up issue I had was naming the outlets on the KP303. The Kasa software very intelligently uses a 2-part naming system for each device; e.g. Master Bedroom + Right-side night light. Again, coming from a competitors product, I learned this the hard way. First I named each outlet with a name like, Master Bedroom - Right-side night light, then discovered about the 2-level, location+name nomenclature, had to learn how to rename already named devices, and went back to simplify the second-level names. All this griping concerns start-up issues, for what seems like a very powerful, well-thought-out system. But I once spent the first six months of a programming job developing documentation standards, going through my predecessors work, figuring out what he had done, and documenting all his undocumented programming. So, I have no tolerance for poor documentation. Hence, 4-stars. P.S. I hope my detailed explanations above (i.e., the missing documentation) will help others trying to get Kasa and the KP303 going.

So when I first got this I thought it would be super basic and cheap. To my surprise TP link has actually taken the time to design this. From two USB ports on the strip and three standard three prong plugs this is a Amazing device to add to any smart home intergration. Easy app setup of the device only took 3 minutes to set up from start to end, each plug is able to be renamed and the Google home app with identify those names.

A while back I switched all of our miscellaneous smart home switches, bulbs, and plugs to Kasa and have always been very happy with the ease of setup and product quality. We bought this power strip for my wifes sewing/crafting room to plug in some of her crafting tools. Setup was simple as it is with all Kasa products, and once the power strip was added in the app, each plug showed up as an individually controllable device. They immediately showed up in our Alexa configuration (running the Kasa skill) and she was up and running. The power strip is well made, with a nice length of cord and easy to see lights for each plug so its immediately apparent which is on or off. This lets her know if the iron, glue gun, or other plug is on or off at a glance. Having a couple of USB charging ports close at hand is a nice addition, even if these ports are not smart controlled. We highly recommended this device as well as the other Kasa plugs, switches, and bulbs!

This power strip has made my smart home life so much easier. This power strip allows me to control my devices remotely, schedule them to turn on and off, and monitor their energy usage. It is also compatible with Alexa, so I can use voice commands to control my devices. One of the best things about this power strip is that it is affordable and comes from a trusted brand. Only saying this because there are many brands similar but from cheap, third party brands. It is hard to find a power strip with similar features that doesnt cost too much, but this one offers a great value for the price. I am very satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make their home smarter and more convenient.

I like this product. I would love it if all the features worked. I have scheduled several timers for on and off at specific times and they dont work at all. The only scheduled timer that I have found that works is the sunset timer. I have a lamp plugged in and it automatically turns my light on at sunset. I love that--I never have to walk into a dark house. I like being able to turn the light on and off from a different room, as I can automatically turn the plugged in device on/off using the app. I was thinking of buying another one to turn my TV off and on at a scheduled time but I wont since the schedule function isnt working.

When it works its a nice smart strip, but the wifi is pretty weak. If you cant connect via wifi it looses quite a bit of its convenience and features. Ive had a couple of surges since getting it and nothings blown up.

I bought this 3 times for myself which means 5 stars already. So I am giving 5 stars for right numer(3) of outlets and light marker and on/off button for each outlet, bright white color and flow of design and easy-to-use application. However, it will be way better if you make it less bulky. Also if you have c-port and usb port, instead of 2 usb ports. Recent version of smartphones use c-port. I use c-port to charge faster.

Well, its sleek looking. Handsome even. I saw this power strip and thought to myself well thats a good lookin power strip right there. That gets a solid 1 star..aside from the fact that Amazon doesnt allow zero. Im sure if i plugged things into it, it might work, but i could have bought 2x excellent APC dumb strips for the price. Ive got a google Wifi setup at home. First generation. NLS-1304-25. If you are familiar with mesh routers, aside from the netgear orbi, most of them have both 2.4 and 5 ghz broadcasted under the same SSID. Now most smart home devices, while all 2.4 ghz devices, can be classified per a google wifi setup as 1. Works out of the box 2. Works with a bit of gymnastics 3. Does not work / cant even get past setup Unlike the star rating, this fall under #3. ive got 4 Kasa plugs to my name and one other setup for another person. I could say I was a fan. Not my first time setting up a plug/plug like device in the TP link app. I had just failed attempt 21 with a TP link support person after failing setup 20 times myself. Not an exaggeration. i like even numbers. As part of the self troubleshooting process, i have tried the setup with 3 devices (2x Android, 1x ipad). Between each setup I did a reset by holding down one of the buttons on the switch to reset it back to a green/orange color and plugged/unplugged . Within said attempts, Ive tried things like only using an android device that works on the 2.4 ghz frequency (Android 8.1, some cheap LG), walking far away from my wifi to force a 2.4 ghz connection with my other android (pixel 3), and using the ipad. I can get as far as freezing on the attempting to connect the strip to the network or to the cannot connect to wifi screen, but no further. Rounding out hour 3.5 with support. Being escalated now to their senior engineer. Come on TP link. Ive already been burned by your Archer C8 router...gave TP link a chance with single plugs and was impressed..now this. Lets turn this review into 3 or 4 stars. EDIT: Follow the definition of insanity. Keep trying for hours. Do the same thing and eventually it will work. Actual troubleshooting got me nowhere. TP link support is useless. They will give you troubleshooting steps that you JUST DID and JUST TOLD them you did. This is staying at 1 star. Terrible product. Worse support. Powering on / item devices became hit or miss. Id hear the click but nothing. Id have to physically hit the switch button then hit it again for it to work. Stay away from this product. Get their single plugs if you are going to get their smart plug
