I was happy to see the one I just bought (Nov 19) is USA made! Last years was Mexican. I do see a difference in the construction at the inside bottom of the can. I guess the bypass valve is down there? Not sure what drives the difference. Ill try to add pics if I remember. I always love the nut on the end for removal. In my G8, its hard to get a good grip on the can.

There is a reason that this is so expensive... Im a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. I buy very good synthetic oils for all of my vehicles (Royal purple, Redline, Motul), and Im not about to trust some cut rate brand with a bargain price. Oil is the life blood of your vehicle, and just as how not all motor oils are created equally, neither are the filter mediums/contruction of filters. As an added bonus the nut on the bottom really makes installation/removal much less of a headache.

I have been using KN FILTERS for my Chevy suburban and it’s defiantly a high quality filter with durable think walls which has a very high pressure sustainability (race proven) to prevent bursts/leaks. Trust your car/truck/suv to KN you won’t buy anything else. Five star - very solid product - highly recommend!!

Not thrilled, its just ok. I bought this filter after years of using the Mobil 1 filter to go with the synthetic oil. Main reason? The 1 wrench nut helps get it off...without it pulling the filter is a headache. After removing the first K&N today after 6,000 or so miles, I was surprised to see how much oil had leaked around the edge of the gasket and down the outside of the filter. Not enough to be a concern, but Ive never had that happen before. Getting the new one on took about 20 minutes for some reason. It was almost like it was cross threaded, Ive never had that much trouble getting a new filter on in 15 years of oil changes. I was just about to quit and it magically went in suddenly. I might go back to the Mobil 1 filters just for peace of mind. Something just doesnt seem right about the two K&Ns Ive bought.

I like the product but the cover wasnt good I received it broken so take care next time to cover it good

2011 Camaro RS/SS with L99 V8 engine Perfect fit, the 6-point nut built into the design pretty much guarantees you can get it off with a real wrench and you wont have to use an oil filter wrench that slides all over the place.

The design of the Chevy 6.0 V8 puts the oil filter in a tight space next to the oil pan, making it difficult to access and remove the filter. THIS unit can be easily removed using a box end wrench. ALSO, the K and N filter is highly rated by people who have dissected and analyzed all the brands of filters on the market. I recommend this filter to all the do-it-yourselfers out there.

Never have seen this before but the Hp-1017 filter I bought had the wrong size threads on it. Filter on the left is an HP-1017 from Amazon that had smaller threads than a another HP-1017. Had to throw this new filter out since it won’t fit anything. Yes, both filters say HP-1017 on them and have identical body sizes. Somehow the threads ended up smaller from K&N on it.

I only buy K&N or Royal Purple. I prefer K&N because of the “nut” on the end for screwing on/off. The threads are always perfect and the gasket is high quality. They come with a reminder sticker for your windshield, but most vehicles now have a reminder built in. Don’t hesitate to give them a try.

Works as expected never had any issues. What sets this filter apart from others is the 1 inch hex fitting on the bottom of it that allows for the use of a common 1 inch socket and ratchet or a 1 inch wrench will do also. Makes it was easier then trying to remove without this feature.
