Farriers formula has been around awhile, years in fact. I used it 16 years ago on an APHA gelding, he had hoof cracks at the mid-line all the way to the coronary band. My vet recommended it and I kept him on it for two years. Not only did his feet heal up and look great his coat became a beautiful rich sorrel and the white turned a glossy white an added bonus that I was not expecting. Back then there was only FF, now you can get many different products depending on your equine’s problems. To this day his feet are still beautiful and he has a long and flowing tail when he stands still drags the ground. Recently I’ve started a walking mule with side wall separating and white line disease on the Farriers Formula Double Strength, her feet are recovering and it was a bad case that kept getting worse with everything I tried until I started the FFDS, I was really feeling like I wasn’t going to win the battle let alone the war! The fungus was causing any growth to be eaten away and I had tried many different soaks and hoof treatments without success. I decided to try the Farrier’s formula hoof clay and Farrier’s Finish and what a difference! I only wish I had gotten smarter sooner, her feet are improving after diligent treatment and following the directions, funny how that works. You have to stay with it and not give up, and not change and start using something else, this is an American owned American made product that is not outsourced and has many peer reviews and outside studies. It’s not over night success and I am thinking this particular mule will be on FFDS the rest of her life, but she is a picky picky eater and loves this stuff even by itself. She loves me to treat her feet because there is nothing in the Farrier’s Finish that is anyway caustic, you can put it on without gloves it is anti microbial and and let’s the hoof breath with conditioners. Too many products out there say yes can cure in t one use or kills bacteria but what else is it killing? The hoof clay which you apply first can also be used without gloves but I use gloves because it is hard to wash off, which is a good thing to keep on the hoof sole and holes and cracks. You want a balance and not kill good bacteria or burn tissue. Frogs are alive and protect and cushion the whole hoof capsule. My mules feet are really looking good, her wall is filling in and connected, her frogs are beautiful and healthy, what a relief to finally have some good hoof wall, sole and frog and she is moving great!
