Melissa & Doug Blues Clues & You! Wooden Chunky Puzzle - Fridge Food (10 Pieces)

> 24 hourOn the surface this is a well made little learning board, all of the wood and shapes are really chunky and the board is very thick, just make sure you don’t get any liquid near it, which is a problem with toddlers and young children. The colours are really bright the images on the pieces are well drawn. There are 10 slots with 10 different fruit images and numbers, you slot in the rather chunky wooden pieces that represent the fruit underneath. The shapes are well defined and the pieces are smooth. The board is nice and thick and I think the idea is great, as soon as my daughter got this with the large pieces and colourful images she was trying to fit the pieces in place, brilliant idea and because everything is so big and thick it is perfect for little hands. There is however a big problem for all its thickness and wooden nature it’s let down by the finish, it’s just not robust enough. If your child won’t have this near food or any sort of liquid and doesn’t like to pick at things then it’s fine but if they do this will start to fall apart. The images seem like thin paper in the board and any sort of food residue that’s sticky can’t be cleaned off well. Water or cleaning wipes also cause the images to break apart, it seems like paper on top of the wood but made to look like wood below the shapes. In only a few days our daughter has dropped snacks on it, spilt a bit of water and managed to rip the print and she is not really a destructive child, we have plenty of these wooden puzzles and the rest are fine as the print is in the wood, they might not look as perfect but they are much more robust. Its a real shame as the wood is good quality and everything is so well thought out in the puzzle and the chunky pieces are great for little hands. It is just let down by very poor quality in its stock in print. I also think at £21.49 as of September 2021 its too expensive.

We think that...
> 24 hourThis Melissa and Doug wooden food puzzle is really simple and engaging and refreshingly made out of wood rather than plastic. We have loads of Melissa and Doug toys for our children and I found not only are they always well made and well finished but they last and will be able to be used by siblings if not passed on to other members of the family and friends as they really are very resilient. The educational seem helps with the idea of counting and also talking about fruits. Great value and ideal idea for a gift as you know it will last.

> 24 hourCute chunky puzzle for little ones working on assembling puzzles, identifying numbers, identifying foods, or all of the above. The quality you expect from Melissa and Doug. Easy to grip chunky pieces and a sturdy board. The pictures are cute and reinforce math skills. Each piece of fruit has numbers behind it and the corresponding number of fruits. 5/5: giftable and educational!

> 24 hourThis chunky wooden puzzle is ideal for helping small children with counting, food recognition and fine motor skills. Framed with popular character Bluey, there are ten chunky pieces to remove and replace. The picture below let’s you know what should fit that space. The whole thing is sturdy, bright and colourful, so very attractive. The pieces are easy to hold and manipulate into the correct space. My youngest grandchild loves it. She’s not not quite at counting stage yet, but is having fun fitting the pieces in and recognising the various fruits and foods. Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful. > 24 hourThis is a really well made and visually pleasing preschool puzzle. The 10 pieces are easy for little hands to manipulate and place in their respective places inside of the refrigerator. My preschoolers were delighted by the colorful and delicious foods they needed to match by number. It also helps that the foods are familiar and perfect representations. Another winner from Melissa and Doug.

> 24 hourOversized puzzle with big chunky wooden pieces that are colorful and easy to slide into place. Helps teach numbers based on the number of a food item included in the piece. Both my 3yo and 9mo really love this puzzle and for different reasons. 3yo likes to do the puzzle and 8mo loves to eat the pieces...
