OLFA 9mm Precision Utility Knife (XA-1) - Multi-Purpose Retractable Precision Knife w/ Fiberglass Reinforced Handle & Snap-Off Blade

used to have the metal version of these, which i really liked and was worried these would be flimsy, but I was wrong, these are tougher than they look. I see know it says they are made of fiberglass...that explains it!

Like I said before, I used OLFA knives and blades in the printing industry for over 25 years, and theyre great, but we didnt have cushioned grips back then. The OLFA Fiberglass Rubber Grip is very comfortable and stable, which gives me more confidence in my hobby - scale plastic aircraft modeling. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I break a LOT of boxes down for our recycling effort. Previously I used an OLFA utility knife and was happy with the results--until I ordered the OLFA Rubber Grip Utility Knife. The leverage you can generate using this ergonomic rubber grip allows you to cut through large and tough cardboard boxes (think banana box) like a hot knife through butter. It of course helps that the blade is razor sharp, but the ease of use is really due to your ability to grip this knife in a way that automatically puts more power into the somewhat smaller cutting surface. No more repeating the cut to make sure that you get through the cardboard, no more bending of the blade as you try to make a straight cut. And its also useful on plastic, rope, rubber and a host of other items. GREAT TOOL!!!!!

Where has this been all my life!?! I love the concept and Im surprised I was just now stumbling across it. If you cut a lot of cardboard/rubber/plastic and youre sick of constantly sharpening blades or replacing razor blades this is the primo solution. When it gets dull just break off the tip and youve got a fresh blade! **NOTE** Its not good at cutting through anything thicker than 1/2 or so, due to the blade design, and the blade isnt as sturdy as a razor. But if youre cutting through cardboard all day this is the tool you need!

This is a great little break-away knife! I originally got the OLFA stainless steel locking blade and found it kind of hard to hold comfortably. I suppose that one is ok for very light use but this one is great all around. I use it as a general purpose utility knife for cutting everything from wires to scraping food off of the counter when its really stuck on. I have 2 already and Ill probably buy another one or two at some point in the future.

My stand by Olfa having finally disintegrated after years of hard use left me shopping for a replacement. This is simply an excellent day-to-day utility knife. Ergonomic, easy to grip and use even when wearing heavier gloves, and the improved blade advancement and lock is just another step forward for Olfa. I recommend this knife for light to medium utility work and strongly suggest pairing it with the UltraSharp black blades.

Let me just begin by saying I have always been a HUGE fan of Olfa products and this Utility Knife did not disappoint me! It has a nice sturdy feel to it and is (in my opinion) very ergonomically designed. Ive ordered a total of 3 of these knives to keep around the house and 1 to keep in my car.

Excellent quality.

Though the product appears sturdy, I had the tip broken on the very first attempt to cut a 1” foam. Not completely satisfied.
