> 24 hourThis Magnesium Anode rod fits my 5th wheel Suburban water heater perfectly. Key points to remember, is to vent your water heater before opening up the rod as the water is scalding hot so use a socket extender and 1/2 ratchet connected to a 1 1/4 socket because the water will forcibly shoot out. Secondly open the tap inside to equalize the pressure and drain the lines. Three, make sure the water heater is in the off switch position while you perform the task. Leaving the switch on can burn the heating element up with no water in the tank. Four, use the included teflon tape one wrap around the threads. Five, use a little white lithium grease on the threads to make it easier to remove in the future. And finally six, make sure the relief valve is closed and seat the rod carefully back into position making sure the threads align so they arent cross threaded. Slow tightening and when it meets resistance either use a torque ratchet to the appropriate spec and/or stop at 1/4 turn after it becomes tight. If you have never done this before you could snap the shaft nut off from the rod costing you plenty! Refill the water, switch on the heater and wait 30 min for hot water. Take care and good luck These rods in Florida with our hard water last anywhere from 8-10 months max, check at least 2x a year and if you use water softeners also be diligent as the sodium content in the water goes up and makes the rod work harder to attract the mineral deposits that can/or will corrode your water heater from within.

> 24 hourI liked the convenience of being able to screw it right into the water heater because of the Teflon tape was already applied. It was installed in a 6 gallon RV water heater.
