Original DVD Drive Replacement for Nintendo Wii Game Console Plug-and-Play Unit

My Wii stopped reading discs so I installed this hard drive and my Wii works as good as new! Easy tutorials on youtube on how to do it so it was no problem.

My Wii DVD drive died and I really didnt want to buy a used Wii and have to replay all of my games to unlock stuff again. I found instructions online that detailed a complete teardown and made the replacement straightforward. Warning that you will need tri wing screwdrivers to take apart the Wii. Once installed it worked for Wii and GameCube games. My Wii will continue to entertain my family for years to come!

The drive was exactly as described. It appears to be refurbished, but refurbished well and looks almost brand new. This is an original Nintendo Wii DVD drive for a Wii RVL-001 system. The drive I received DOES play GameCube games without any hesitation. All connections were solid and undamaged. I got the perilous this disc cannot be read message on my Nintendo Wii (well its my kids). I tried cleaning the lens and figured what the heck, why not try this. I told my kids that I was going to repair the Wii or buy a new gaming system. I ordered this and a tri-wing screwdriver. Spent about five minutes of Googling the steps and about half an hour later, a working Wii was had. The device has operated as it did from the factory for the last month+. I expect great service out of this. I felt dumb for waiting so long to order this. It was relatively easy as long as you follow the steps.

Fixed our old Wii and it works like new again. Process was reasonably easy, though there were many steps. So many tiny screws! Just look for instructions on the web or YouTube. Tool wise you need some standard small screwdrivers, plus a special tri-wing screwdriver that you can buy here on Amazon. Child is happy and Im happy since I didnt have to buy a new game machine.

The drive arrived in as-new condition, and included the laser lens assembly. I had previously tried replacing just the laser lens, which is a much more complicated installation, as you have to disassemble the DVD drive. My problem turned out to be the drive not the lens, but for an extra few dollars I would strongly recommend replacing the entire drive if you are having disc read errors on your Wii. I used the DIY tutorial on ifixit.com and was able to replace the drive in 30 minutes. You will need tri-wing and small Phillips head screwdrivers for the job.

Shipment was quick, install was easy and it has been wirking flawlessly for weeks now. Best thing is that the family can once again enjoy game night, just like when they were younger.

While the disc drive was a pain to install due to how many screws are involved, the disc drive worked perfectly! Tested and it was able to read both Wii and GameCube games without any issue, so I was thankful to not have to get a new Wii to play my old games!

Was very disappointed when are second Wii came up with the dreaded disk error. We have so many games we had to repair. Bought this drive and purchased a triwing screwdriver set separately and was able to install this while following a online video of the tear down and Installion with no issues at all. Plug it in and our Wii was back up and running like the day we got it
