Bought this pack to replace my first atmos. First one carried me through my triple crown and I decided to retire it. Loved it so much I wouldnt get anything else. Its light but not ultralight, which also means its more durable. Show me a dyneema pack that has pulled a triple and Ill introduce you to a yellow blazer. Osprey customer service is amazing.

Build feels really good, pockets all seem useful in size and placement. But the highlight of this pack is the comfort. its mesh back is ridiculously breathable, and the straps distribute the weight perfectly. The only complaint I can think of is that the rain fly is sold separately (and I new that when I bought it.)

It has so many options for adjustment that I can get a comfortable setup even with all the damage to shoulder, hip and leg on one side over time. Would have liked to be able to open the middle of pack. I’d like a clear pouch on top to allow my solar battery charger to ride or some tie loops on top.

This is my second Atmos 65 and I love it! It’s much more comfortable than the older model I have (c. 2014) and I got it to the fit that suits me. The padding is superb on it, and all the pockets lets me configure it to my personal needs. Excellent pack! Will be using it for backpacking in the spring.

For the money I was expecting to be able to fit more in there. When you put a full water bag in the main compartment it reduces the amount of volume for other things. The bed roll straps are a bit short and if it rains the waterproof cover sold separately will not cover your bed roll. I wound up having to carry my bedroll by hand in the rain as the straps are hidden by the cover. I guess its ok if the bedroll gets soaked (sarcasm). Furthermore with the rain cover on it is difficult to get the pack on as you need to thread your arms through the straps but not get hung up in the waterproof cover. If you are by yourself this can be a bit of a challenge. It can also be difficult to get the side strap compartments to unfold with the rain cover on. I wound up just foregoing using the waist belt when it was raining. I personally would recommend a poncho that will cover the whole setup if you expect to encounter rain. Youll be more comfortable and all your stuff will remain dry. The plus side is that this was a very comfortable pack to wear when dry and my shoulders never became too sore over the course of the day. It was easy to control comfort by alternately tightening and loosening the waist belt so that the hips take more or less of the load.

This pack replaces an old pack with a metal frame from the 1970s, so for me, it is like going from a broken down truck to a Lexus. Watch the video on the product page--I wont even attempt to describe all the various pockets and storage areas on this pack. Its got a place for everything. But my favorite thing about the pack is the design. Empty it weighs about 6 lbs, full it varies, but the hip belt rests on the hips so that your hips are bearing a lot of the weight of the pack, rather than your back and shoulders. It makes the pack feel so much lighter and so doesnt stress your body as much. This pack is intended for use on a weekend up to 7+ days. The sizing of small, medium, large and extra large have nothing to do with the size of the pack but a neck vertebrae to hip line measurement that makes it fit well. Go to the Osprey website to see how to measure and order the corresponding size you need. This is an essential step for enjoying the benefits of this spectacular pack. There is also netting that holds it away from your back and straps that are well-padded and adjustable as well. The hip belt adjusts as well. This pack is guaranteed for the life of the original owner. If anything breaks, they will fix it or replace it. But dont expect to collect on the guarantee anytime soon. This pack is so well made. The Osprey Atmos AG 65 pack is expensive but worth the investment. If you camp out for a few nights instead of staying in a Super 8, youve already paid for it. Five stars without any hesitation.
