I was looking for a smart home plug to replace my second WeMo Insight that died (thats the second one in two years, so caveat emptor: WeMo Insights have a really short lifespan), and this one seemed like it might do the trick. Installation and set up in the app was quick and easy. It was also quick and easy to see that the only way you could find any information about power usage was to open the Satechi app. It doesnt even report in use/not in use status with Apple HomeKit the way the WeMo Insight does. So its obviously possible to have that functionality, but that might actually take some programming that goes above and beyond checking a feature list item. Why is it useful to know whether the switch is in use/not in use (which is not the same as on/off, its more like, drawing power/not drawing power). Its useful for reporting when appliances that are doing stuff for you have completed their chore. Like the clothes drier for example. Using the WeMo Insight, when the clothes drier completed its cycle, the WeMo app would send me a notification that the switch was no longer in use (not drawing power), so I knew the load had finished. Likewise, the Insight and the WeMo switches are supported on IFTTT, so I could run some automation integration with HomeKit, like playing a drier finished tone on my HomePods to alert me to the fact that the drier had stopped. Its too bad. The Satechi switch seems really well built, and heavy duty enough to last. But as often happens with hardware companies, they fail to recognize the potential value of taking the software to the next level of functionality. In their rush to get a well built hardware product into the world and start making sales, they deliver something run by software thats not truly useful to their target market. Then they end up having to turn that sale into a refund.

I have purchased several of these over the past couple of years to control our holiday lighting via Apple Siri and HomeKit. Great to say in the evening “Hey, Siri, Christmas on” and all the lights in the house and outside come on. Same with turning them off. Saves having to spend 5-10 minutes going room-to-room and outside and turning lights on or off. For HomeKit users, I recommend this highly. Easy to set up (go to HomeKit app, add accessory, scan the QR code in the provided manual, and complete the setup. Easy-peasy!

Really, really, really bad. This outlet is so buggy, I can’t believe they would release not only this cheap hardware, but the app is absolutely unusable.

Product works as advertised. I’m able to control two outlets from anywhere and set up my scenes on apples home app with ease!

Great solution if you want more than one smart plug as it doesnt cover up second plug on a typical 2 plug wall socket. Each device is individually controllable and there is a physical button for on/off for each plug so you can still control it manually if you are near the plug or dont want to grab your phone or talk to Siri. Excellent quality of materials and design. This is not cheaply made and the price is reasonable for getting two devices controlled.

Ive used this device for three days. This product was just as I had hoped for, with regard to two individually operated outlets. It doesnt cover the other outlet, as other reviewers have pointed out. I downloaded the Satechi app from Apple for installation (iOS for iPad). Set up was very easy. The device was running in 4-5 minutes. The instructions mention to turn off 5GB wifi on ones router before installing, which I did. After installation was completed, Siri commands work as expected. My only question is for the company: How do I update the firmware? I found the details button for the device, which shows the firmware as v. 3.3.6. But how do I know that this is the latest version? I cant find an update button on the app to confirm. Im happy with the product.

Pros: Fast on/off Cons: Manufacturers app is missing some logic. I can set different schedules for same outlet from iPad and iPhone and have now idea which it right one. Nether one see other schedule. Besides iPad app doesn’t have landscape mode so impossible to use if iPad is a Hub and attacked to the wall horizontally.
