Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Great value on great headphones (got them for <$100 during one-day sale). Amazingly comfortable for extended period listening. Seems to be a pretty neutral sound and sounds nice and balanced with all sorts of music. Really expansive soundstage(?)...you seem to be able to localize clearly where individual instruments were physically located during the recording process. Nice long amplifier headphone jack cable, extra shorter cable for portable devices and the ability to easily swap and replace cables as they may wear are all much appreciated features. Can still hear external sounds while wearing, which is good or bad, depending on your use case. Not really an audiophile, and havent owned Sennheiser headphones since the 1980s, but so far, so great.

Definitely deserves a 5 star ....awesome product....bought it day before.....Sennheiser is a brand known for its sound quality and they dont disappoint with these pair of headphones...but now some heating issues are coming up ....u can go for it :)

Went from a sennheiser 215hd to these, and the difference is very noticeable. I got them on the cyber monday for £75ish, which was a very good deal, as I paid about he same for my old sennheisers about 2 years ago. Firstly, they are a lot more comfy than the 215s, with you barely noticing them being on your head, and not having a tight headband either. There is a long 3m cable, and a shorter cable included in the box, which was nice, as I like to be able to walk a little around the room and still leave my music playing. The sound of the open headphones compared to close ones is a lot fuller, like you are in the room with the music, rather than just listening to it. There were also certain parts of tracks which I simply couldnt hear before buying these headphones. I think, for their rrp of £150+, I would be unsure about buying them, but if you can get them under £100, they are a steal. I imagine they will last for a good 10+ years, their build quality seems great, and my older sennheisers were 2 years old and saw no sign of deterioration. The cables are also replaceable, in case they fail, you dont have to buy a whole new one.

Thanks to Amazon for the killer deal at 6999. I was looking for this for quite sometime and the price was much higher and i was lucky to lay my hands on it at this price within a very short time window of few hours. A Wonderful set of over the ear headphones with absolute comfort, sound quality, separation of instruments, sound stage and overall, it looks so good, nice and big. I am very happy with the purchase. Le son est parfaitement rendu, ce qui est essentiel pour un casque, mais cette qualité nest pas toujours au rendez vous. Le confort est vraiement bon, meme si le cordon est un peu court. Dommage (mais cest un detail). bonne qualité de fabrication. Satisfait.

Great headphones. Comfy and well... great sound. You really can ear the particularities of real music instruments in an orchestra, every minute vibrations, *people coughing in the audience*, everything, hehehe. The only thing to note is that they are open headphones, which I didnt read correctly when I bought them. You hear everything around you. Your wife tells you to get out the trash, you wont have the excuse I couldnt hear you... So far I can keep em on my head for hours without noticing. Good buy!

5 stars if like me you got them for £75 on Black Friday, 4 stars at the £200 they are now. Comfort is very high. Velour could have been a little less dense, but still built for marathon sessions. Also a very easy listen for long sessions, due to a little roll off in the top range. This makes them a little untrustworthy as otherwise exceptional reference monitors, and the bass is flat for enjoyment listening, but great for reference. This leaves me wondering what their purpose is; I guess you could call them an all rounder? One thing not is question is their immaculate detail and soudstage. At the price i got them, they are miles ahead of anything in the price range.

These headphones are fantastic! They offer a nice warm sound, with plenty of bass and balanced mids-high. The give a good depth to the listening experience also, i think this is because they are open back headphones. You wouldnt use these headphones in a public place for two reasons, people would be able to hear everything that you are listening to and also you would be able to hear everything around you. They are perfect for listening to films on as well, they really add to the movie experience. 10/10 would buy these again if they broke (which i cant see happening as they are really well made.
