First time used was August 11th and the zipper broke on September 3rd. Waste of money.

I used this backpack for my carry-on bag for a trip to London from the U.S. My laptop, camera gear, extra change of clothes, and more easily fit into this backpack. Throughout the trip, the backpack held up and was quite sturdy. I liked the padded section for my laptop as well as the section that is lined so I can put my sunglasses and glasses in them. The side pockets expand nicely for an umbrella or water bottle. I would definitely purchase more North Face items in the future.

This line has always had great construction. My first Borealis lasted 5 years through college and traveling.

This is a very well made backpack. Sturdier than most, so it should last longer. And nice design. Very happy with the purchase. Would ruchase again.

parts of my bag have broken and i have only had it for 6 months, where it was only used for 4 out of those 6 months. It doesn’t allow me to return the bag because it’s passed the return window.

It was either this, or the Northface Recon. The Recon is a great backpack. I had one for years before I got my Borealis. However, the place where you would place the laptop at the back of the Recon allows your laptop to touch the hard ground when you set the backpack on the ground. Additionally, I found that the Recon had more of a tendency to fall over. Again, the Recon is good, but probably better for hiking than as a commuter backpack. The Borealis suspends the laptop by making the bottom not touch the bottom of the backpack... kind of like a little hammock. The straps are very adjustable, and the part where they attach on top is floppy (in a good way), which makes it a little easier to put the backpack on and also take it off. Overall, very, very good option if you plan to put your laptop in it. One think I dont like is how the very front small pocket doesnt have its zipper at the top of the compartment, rather its in the middle. So if youre trying to access it from an upright position, stuff at the top of the small compartment may fall out. I recommend this laptop.

The product is good looking, well-made and practical, whether as a backpack for travel or as a books bag for busy students. There is another version, very similar (about 1 less in all three dimensions) intended for girls. It even has gold lettering rather than the typical white North Face logo. Some girls may prefer the larger bag with the traditional white logo.
