TurboTax Home & Business Federal + e-File + State 2010 - [Old Version]

We have used this for many years to do our taxes. It is a huge improvement over trying to negotiate forms without guidance and is a great time saver if you keep your records in digital form. We do not make use of the import from Quicken feature, since our categories are arranged for our budgeting purposes and not by tax form line. My only persistent complaints are the following: 1) Customer service (though improved more recently) is still not quickly available--even for questions about interpreting TurboTax guidance. The program is easy to understand for most usual questions, but some are ambiguous and can prompt one to e.g., enter a value twice unintentionally. 2) accuracy: problems here are extremely rare, but they happen. There was a problem in 2012 or 2013 where the program altered an amount when transferring to the state return (it was a real calculation error). Most errors are due to misinterpretation of the Easy Step guidance questions. This could be averted easily if Intuit would include warnings and clarifications for likely points of confusion. Unfortunately, most problems occur on more obscure forms or less common deductions and credits. If you have a very straight forward, simple tax picture, this program will be wonderful. If not, just keep your antennae up and review all forms before filing!

TurboTax makes a very complicated process easy. It takes you through entering tax data step by step in a simplified manner, and provides tips and advice each step along the way. Then it calculated your tax, choosing the right forms and making decisions about the best way to complete the forms, when there is more than one way to do so. I recommend Turbo Tax for simple to moderately complex returns. (I think you will be money ahead to have highly complex returns reviewed by a professional - no $79 computer program is going to outwit a trained professional.) One word of caution - the TurboTax front cover says Includes Federal and State Taxes. What it means is that TurboTax fills out the state forms. There is a substantial extra charge (about $40) for efiling the state form (Federal efiling is free). Of course, you can always send in the state return by regular US mail.

The Vendor: Fantastic price. Took 3 days to arrive in the mail. The Product: Installed with no problems. I was worried that I would have to pay when I printed or that there would be an issue with activation. No activation, no issues. I have been using TT since 2006. Every year I install the program and import last years tax return data *.tax2009, *.tax2010, *.tax2011, and so on. Then I update the figures. Especially for my 1099 Schedule C Income from my side business activities and now I export from TD Ameritrade a *.txf (Tax eXchange Format) and pull all the trades right into TT. No more individual entries for the 1099-B.

Have used this product for several years without issue. There may be other tax software out there, but with TurboTax, I know how it is laid out and how it operates. When I upgraded to the iPad, I now use the app version which syncs with the cloud and my desktop. I would recommend this item.

Once again and excellent product as we have used Turbo Tax ever since it became available. The ease of transferring information from one year to the next alleviates having to type in the same info every year. All tax carryforward information, etc. expedites the process. For the beginner this is an excellent package in that it can step you through the process. If unsure about an item the Help section is very useful. And the E-filing feature is key. Our state tax refund was accepted by the state and directly deposited into the bank account in 9 days while the federal refund occurred in 6 days. Excellent product.

I have been using Turbo Tax since 2005 and it has been so helpful in doing my taxes. It guides you through every aspect of your taxes. It is EASY-PEASY.I love that it asks so many questions to get the most legal deductions possilbe. It also flags possible questions on deductions. I love the optional services of my taxes being reviewed by an expert.

While I am a salaried rat, my wife is a consultant and uses a limited liability company as her legal entity for her work. So the Home & Business version of Turbo Tax is very helpful in not only handling a salaried employee but also in handling an independent contractor type such as my wife. It really helps with the categorization of business expenses for the LLC. Ive used this product for years and always feel very comfortable with it.

The program is easy to use. You can stop and go as you please. I have used TurboTax the past three years and have been satisfied with the results.

Great easy product. Lot cheaper than a regular tax preparer and just as easy. You have to get all the paperwork organized for your tax preparer anyway, so this time try this product for a change. It walks you though the entire processes - all the way to efiling or mailing - really easy !

This is the fifth year I have used TurboTax and really like it. It is flexible in its approach--either a led tour or you can just go to the forms you know you need. For people like us who used 5 or 6 schedules on the federal return this is an easy task.
