This expansion is truly a great addition to the shards of infinity line up.

The game is great. Our copy arrived without the rulebook, which we had to lookup online.

We own the original and it’s expansion. This coöp version is difficult. We’ve played it a few times and have yet to win. We were a little confused as to the set up; Do we only put the twelve cards in this set in the shop or do we put all the cards from the original game in as well? We’ve found the nemesis will hit hard and constantly and there’s no time to build a solid engine to hit back. It seems that the only way to beat the first villain is just to deal damage as other strategies we’ve tried haven’t worked. In typical SoI fashion, set up and tear down is fast, as is game play. Card stock is great and the illustrations are too, as is the graphic design.

Shards is my favorite attack-each-other deckbuilder, and this provides a whole new way to play, where you are actually working together on the same team--makes it feel like youre playing a video game together to take down the big bosses. This is a bigger expansion than the last one (Relics of the Future), although I would say if you had to pick between the two, its better to get Relics first because it adds more to the base game (competitive play). I love the new Aion faction, and it is brilliantly designed in such a way that it doesnt dilute any of the other factions from getting the bonuses you want with them (if anything, it makes it easier to get the faction triggers). I do wish that there were more Aion cards (only 9 new cards go into the center deck, and four of them are doubles).

Shards of Infinity is a fantastic game. This expansion is good but is not worth the price for what you get. Its an extra character and 12 cards unless you want to play against the game in a cooperative story mode. Thats not really fun to me so Im a little let down. No biggie, just too expensive.

This expansion allows you to play cooperative with 2-4 players. You can also play solo by just controlling 2 players. I dont like the coop mode as much as the competitive mode, but both are interesting and it helps me get the game onto the table with certain audiences.
