> 24 hourSO happy I purchased this tiny little powerhouse! I have always had a large desktop scanner or even a few base scanners (huge, heavy things). This is right on my nightstand next to my telephone and I enjoy it every single evening without fail. Easy to SEARCH then find the frequencies you like and set them up in the BANKS so you can SCAN. I didnt have any problems at all and know I will enjoy this while out in the back woods or camping or taking along on trips. Excellent purchase.

> 24 hourThis little scanner offers a lot of features at a decent price, and gives you the option of convenient portability. Not much to say, other than that it works like its supposed to. The only thing to keep in-mind, particularly if you are not already experienced with scanners, is that you will not get great range or reception with the included antenna. If you need range, be prepared to install and use a larger/outdoor antenna, which is not difficult to accomplish.

> 24 hourThis scanner is great for small town cities but not for the big cities. Its a great scanner for what it does. Probably one of the most affordable scanners available. But if youre looking to get big cities you probably want to go with a digital scanner. Because that is what most emergency services today use. You will still get to listen in on some agencies. But most are digital and this is only analog. If you are wondering if your favorite em. service is using digital, look it up online. Thats my one piece of advice. But its a great little scanner! It has a BOATLOAD of programmable channels that you can designate. It also has a feature built into it where you can select what you want to listen to (i.e. fire, police, air, marine,.....) and it will scan certain frequencies that the selected agencies use. which is very handy! So if youre looking for a great, affordable, and easy to use scanner for every day use, this is for you (depending on your wants and needs (Digital or Analog))!

> 24 hourI saw some reviews that described this scanner as not being able to get good reception on distant transmissions or good battery life. Well,, I get aircraft traffic from an airport 10 miles away not to mention my local airport 5 miles to the south. I have had the radio on for 3 days for 2-3 hours at a time until the low battery alert came on. This is a nice little scanner and the volume is loud at full blast. I also live in an aluminum sided mobile home and it works great inside the house too. I have not done much scanning with it as I know each frequency that I want to listen to so cannot comment on this function other than it picks up our local police just fine.

> 24 hourIt is a classic and it works just as well as the one I purchased in 1997, it is just smaller and lighter. Works well, volume and squelch now have a dual switch action on the single knob-clever!

> 24 hourFIrst usage at the track as a corner worker and Im somewhat impressed. Battery life was pretty good, with a set of AA batteries lasting about 12 hrs (1.5 days) before it needs to be changed. Controls are not intuitive, so youll need to spend some time with the manual just to turn it on. Unfortunately the manual spends a lot of time discussing scanning scenarios, but as a track worker I know the frequency I want to monitor, and the manual doesnt give many hints as to how best to handle that situation. Picked up transmissions without issue, and was as clear as the high-end track issued radio our station captain was assigned. Belt clip worked well and kept the unit on my belt even when jogging to respond to things. One issue Ive had is getting decent volume into my headset (a Racing Electronics headset), but that may very well be a function of the headset as opposed to the scanner as when I unplug the headset then the volume of the scanner through its own onboard speaker is plenty loud. Id recommend this my fellow corner workers.

> 24 hourLove my scanner I would have given it 5 stars but I can not get it to stop making screeching noises on certain channels like someone holding the mic down other wise all calls come in clear easy set up took about 15 minutes in all and it was up and running if I can get the excess screeching to stop I will edit this and give it a 5 star rating but for those who are electronic pros you will have no trouble I would recommend this to those wanting too have one in a vehicle or like I do in my living room where there is not much room for a standard scanner it is small and does not take up much room at all. All in All this is a great scanner it even picks up care flight 30 miles away which is a plus for me.

> 24 hourI bought this exclusively for railroad listening, and it works great. I live near several major rail yards, so proximity to the signals isnt an issue. As with things of this type, programming usually messes with my mind, but there are several great utube videos that make it easy. I programmed all 100 AAR freqs so no matter where I am, I can catch anything going on nearby. Battery life is just fine so far, as is the quality of the radio. I am very happy with this purchase!
