(5 Pack) Ware Manufacturing Willow Branch Ball 4-inch

> 3 dayI periodically buy these for my rabbit. For the most part, I am happy with them. On the positive side, this is a toy that was well-thought for rabbits. The willow branches do not splinter like some other wood products often used with rabbit toys (which is a major safety concern). The usage of willow is a good choice for materials in terms of health/safety. I find most rabbits get a kick out of this, and that the willow branches used are hard enough to help wear down teeth (very important given rabbit teeth never stop growing and must be worn with usage) but also that they are not so hard they can damage teeth or cut gums. On the negative side, I agree with others that this is not a toy that lasts long at all. My rabbit can destroy one of these in about 15 minutes. She has an absolute blast while destroying it, but even at the reasonable price of 3 bucks this can add up fast. Also, these are pretty messy once Bunny rips it apart. On the neutral and potentially-negative side, based on talking to other owners and reading reviews, it seems that there is some variability to this product (Ware is pretty big so they might make this in multiple different locations/factories?) Some owners have noted recently that the smell of this toy is distinct and different previously, plus what it inside the toy to make it rattle seems to vary (some people have noted there was a peanut in theirs, for example). So this may factor into your purchase. The ones I purchased were of good quality, but if I purchased one and it arrived with a strong chemical smell I am not sure if I would give it to Lilly...

> 3 dayMy 13 year old sons guinea pig, Bruce, became very sick 2 days following receipt of this willow ball. We rushed him to the vet and she wasnt sure what the problem was but put him on a yogurt/spinach diet because he hadnt had a bowel movement in almost 24 hours. The following day he finally had a bowel movement and it was VERY hard and in the shape of a cluster of small branches from this willow ball. The pictures show the hole he chewed in the willow ball and his bowel movement which appears to be in the same shape as the branches. He seemed to improve after finally having a few more VERY hard bowel movements in the same weird shape. Unfortunately Bruce passed away 3 days after our vet appointment...I have no doubt it was due to this willow ball as he was a healthy 5 month old guinea pig prior to this. My son is devastated...as am I after seeing him try so hard to nurture Bruce back to health. He blames himself as he bought this thinking it would be a fun chew toy for Bruce. I cant help wishing we could turn back time and had never ordered this.
