Greater than one weekAfter much digging, I found that the processor (IIRC) supports 128GB of RAM. Im not sure how much the MoBo supports, however, running the Crucial test, it stated that I could upgrade to 64GB of RAM, so I did.

31-03-2025The screen artifacts on day one were just about constant, and over the days got even worse- and no matter what I did to the settings nor any drivers I downloaded, they never got fixed. These were not trivial; they could go across the entire screen and really distract. While I didnt use the laptop for gaming, I was a hardcore gamer years ago and knew had I gamed with it the absolutely atrocious screen would have been unacceptable. This was by far the worse laptop and computer screen Ive used in over 20 years, and thats even including ones that were used for years before I got my hands on them! I had to get a refund based on the terrible screen. I almost certainly got a defective unit, as Id think people would be up in arms near unanimously had they gotten what Id gotten out of this laptop. Still, this was my experience- and if it happened to me, it could happen to you too.

> 3 dayThis ACER Nitro 5 I received is a terrific laptop; granted, Im not super hip on all the latest and greatest on a laptop, but what this laptop does do is the keyboard feel is good, the build quality is fairly solid, theres a separate numerical keyboard, and it works like it should, meaning no blue screen of death and glitches. The model I bought does have a backlit keyboard, but it is only backlit in red; this model does not have the multiple different colors. Next, the 16 GB of RAM, it is configured in two sticks of 8 GB. So, if one (like I did...) buy another single 16 GB RAM stick expecting to upgrade to a total of 32 GM of RAM, nope. Your final tally will be 24 GB of RAM (8 GB (stock) + 16 GB (new) = 24 GB of RAM). All in all, I am very satisfied with this machine, for the money. Two thumbs up.

> 3 dayIts nice to see Acer stepping up and producing a well rounded gaming laptop for under $1,000. The first thing you will notice is how slim and lightweight it is with a solid metal feel. Windows 11 is a relatively easy system to setup but there are several trail services that are best skipped or signed up for later on. The only freebie software that I do recommend signing up for is the 1 year of 100GB storage with Dropbox. You dont need any of the extra bells and whistles it will try to sell you but a year of service without having to provide a credit card is a good deal. The keyboard layout feels spacious and does not flex. So, typing is actually pleasant on this laptop. I am not sure the exact brightness level but it is brighter than my Asus TUF gaming laptop that I am coming from. The 144 refresh rate is appreciated and a must for the modern gamer. I was worried the RTX 3050 Ti would be lackluster after using a RTX 2060 for the past two years, but it holds its own quite well (see uploaded video of Hogwarts Legacy playing very smoothly with an xbox controller on this laptop). If you are buying this for teen or young adult gamer, I recommend pairing it with one of the official Xbox series S/X controllers. This is one of current favorite controllers and it works well for Windows 11 gaming on this laptop. For anyone wondering if a 3050 Ti can handle VR gaming with only 4GB VRAM, the answer is yes. I connected a Odyssey+ VR headset that ran Townsmen, Noun Town, or Vacation Simulator smoothly (all excellent VR games). The 512GB SSD is speedy but may not be enough if you have a large photo collection or if you like to store tons of games to switch between. There is room to add another SSD and 1TB SSD upgrade should only cost between $60 - $100. At this price point, I think 512GB is reasonable for a baseline as is the 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I dont think you will need more for another a few years. The i5 is plenty powerful for gaming and business tasks. Intel has finally caught up to AMD with there current generation mobile processors.

hi
Greater than one weekBloatware on this device. Was not interested in Norton and when tried to remove could not due to application error. This is a problem with the Image Acer uses to load these in the factory.
