Greater than one weekI purchased this CPU as an upgrade to my Intel i5-9400F as a life-long intel fanboy, having used a range of i5 and i7 CPUs and even recommended or built PCs for friends utilizing intel CPUs as well. I needed something more powerful to help me do music production work without breaking the bank, and this fell into my watchlist. My friends who work in the tech industry convinced me to give AMD a try with this particular CPU, and it is mind-blowing the sort of performance this 6 core CPU is giving me, at easily 3x+ the performance of the old i5 I had (and I was thinking about upgrading to an i5-12600K originally). This is FAR cheaper, and I cannot imagine the 12600 provides any significant performance benefits - if it even matches the performance of this CPU in the first place - despite costing $80 more at the time of writing this review (there are no ongoing sales nor scalping at this time either). It runs cooler than I ever thought an AMD CPU could as well, never surpassing about 65 degrees Celsius while air-cooled on a Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler even at sustained 100% usage. I cannot speak for the included air cooler as I promptly threw that one out in favor of the larger Hyper 212, but then I would advise not using the included CPU cooler to everyone regardless of the CPU youre purchasing, be it intel or AMD, cheap or expensive. Nevertheless, to reference my tech friends again, they do say the included cooler is not awful.

yea
17-12-2024The CPU is very stable and never crashed once, and gave me an uplift of 120 to 200 fps in r6s after upgrading from ryzen 2600. One issue is that the stock cooler is not good enough if you live in a warm area or if your planning to overclock. Also if your reading this then get the intel i5 CPUs since AM4 platform is offically dead, and the intel cpus right now are best bang for the buck unless the 5600x is on sale

> 3 dayI got this 5600x to upgrade from a 3600x. Drop the voltage a hair and it runs fast and cool. With a Noctua air cooler, it boosts over 5,000 fairly regularly, and doesnt get much over 65c. Even with a 3060ti, the fps boost was more dramatic than I expected. Worth the price of admission.

> 3 dayYou might have to update your motherboards BIOS firmware for zen3 CPUs to work so make sure you have a working PC/laptop and a USB to download and update your BIOS from either Q-flash or from BIOS menu, in my case it still managed to POST and get to the BIOS menu without updating the firmware.
