CPU is a lot more efficient and powerful than previous gens of Ryzen, but it does get quite hot if youre not paying attention. 80C is common with the higher clock speeds when benchmarking, not too common when gaming though. Make sure to install Ryzen drivers, and keep your fan speeds a little higher than with previous gen Ryzens.

This is an excellent processor for gaming. The stock cooler is sufficient even with a mid-range overclock. I undervolted it and overclocked it to 4200 using Ryzen Master and the idle temperatures are in the 40° to 50° c range. Never gets above 75° c when gaming or benchmarking even with the slight overclock. I do also have a case with a lot of fans. I would recommend undervoting it a bit to control the temperature even if you dont plan on playing with anything else. In general I find that this generation of AMD processors are very robust and will tolerate a wide range of voltages and clock speeds, but they seem to be overvolted at stock and run a bit hot.

Okay jokes aside, I think Intel is still a fine company and Im not here to be more or less loyal to any one brand. Home Labs and HPC are hobbies of mine and I just wanted something with more multi-core performance without needed to cough up my lifes saving.

Für mich zur Ersten Generation ein Quantensprung.Im direkten Vergleich zum Ersten 7 1700 liegen Welten.Ich bin mit dem Ryzen 7 3800X zufrieden auch wenn sein kleinerer Bruder etwas schneller ist.Für meine Ansprüche mehr als ausreichend und es ist immer noch Luft nach oben.
