AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler

I replaced my i7-4960 which was overclocked to 4.6ghz and went with AMD and the 3800x. Got it setup on a new 570 motherboard and quickly jumped to an all core overclock of 4.4ghz and i can quickly see the increased speed just in Windows boot to Start-up process. 8 cores is enough for me an any virtualization i need to perform. But, for only $100 more you can go to 4 more cores. Tempting, but honestly 8 cores/16 threads is enough for my needs. The 3800X means no need to go for the last drop of overclock.

I paid £258 opened box so Im very happy with this but it is essentially a 3700x with a factory overclock, dont buy in to the hype and over pay, get the 3700x unless you can find the 3800x cheaper..

I set this to Auto on over clocking. Needed to set SOC to 1.15 to run RAM at 3600 CL16. Im using an Azrock X570 Steel Legend and it was setting SOC voltage to 1.094 which wasnt quite enough. Seems to peak around 4400 Mhz when gaming and other strenuous tasks.

Does what I expect, handles everything I throw at it.

New PC build.

The CPU I received was defective. My mother bored was giving me a 07 postcode, which indicated ram issues. but, the ram was not the issue I just pulled it out of my old computer and it worked fine. I pulled out my old CPU a AMD 5 2600 and it posted right away while using the same ram. I found other thread on line that that had the same issue. I did make sure to update the Bios before switching to the old CPU to make sure that was not the issue. Base on the other Reviews I am have seen I should gone with the 3700X .
