At this time 2020 dec, I found this amd 3900x ryzen 9 the best bang for buck cost to performance ratio.

This processor is a beast. Recently upgraded from an i5-6600k and its worlds better. Multitasking that normally would stress my CPU does not even come close to stressing this one. The one thing that took a little getting used to however was that this CPU, and I assume zen 3 CPUs in general, run hotter at idle than Intel chips. I have a dark rock pro 4 and the idle temps are usually in the high 30s and low 40s as opposed to my old cpu being at mid 20s. Other than that, this CPU is a beast and Im happy with my purchase.

Great processor. Paid $419.00 price dropped after intel released 10th gen chips. And xt models were coming to market. Price has gone up since. Processor does well in games and very well in work station applications. Its a good processor and bang for the buck its well worth the price. Build asus x570 pro, ryzen 3900x, 32gb 4x8gb gskill royal z ddr4 3600 cl14, asus rog 2080ti. No issues no crashes build 9 months old. Tip for ryzen on x570 4x8gb got 5-15% performance gains (depending on application) when I went from 2x8gb to 4x8gb ram configuration. Love this processor.

I probably did not need to splurge for the 3900X but decided I did not want to have to upgrade anytime soon. I went from a i5-7600K and what a difference it has been! I havent had any problems in the last 4 months. Also, I went with an X570 motherboard so I did not have to deal with updating the BIOS on older motherboards. Get this and enjoy it.
