> 3 dayOriginally had a 3700x (which I thought was the best overall CPU from the 3000 series due to its 65w performance) and upgraded to a 5800x... instant regret. For starters, the thermals were completely out of hand... temps easily topping 80*c when running standard benchmarks (Cinebench for example)... even when tuning with curve optimizer - which is finicky at best in my opinion as well from a stability standpoint. Yes - I understand its TDP is 105w compared to 65w of the 3700x, but still... it was HOT. Didnt feel like much of an upgrade from a performance standpoint either... lesson learned - 3700x to 5800x (both 8 core) not at all worth the upgrade. I returned it to the local store I bought it at, and told myself if I could snag a 5900x, I would. Got lucky here on Amazon one morning and scored one for MSRP ships & sold by Amazon (wont pay third-party scalper prices). Upon installing, I ran the usual suite of tests to see how it was... my initial reaction was one of absolute surprise - honestly I thought I may have done something wrong. When I fired up Cinebench, the max temp was 62*c. Huh??? Four more cores, same 105w TDP, yet TWENTY DEGREES cooler??? I checked all the BIOS settings (which Id left stock, other than setting my memory profile). Everything was fine. I ran other tests, and it was confirmed across the board... This processor runs extremely efficiently from a thermal standpoint. Obviously the performance increase is something else as well... even with my x470 motherboard, I am seeing incredible performance uplifts compared to the 3700x it replaced.

> 3 dayIf youre like me you are probably debating between the 5900X and the 5950X if youre looking for a significant CPU upgrade. My previous CPU was 8-cores, so logically I thought 16-core (the 5950X) would be the obvious upgrade as its twice as much but that logic doesnt quite apply depending on what you intend to use the computer for. Instead, the 12-core 5900X is much more suited to my needs and saved me a couple hundred dollars.

> 3 dayThe 5900x is an absolute beast the only complaint is the temperatures, it runs hot. If your going to buy 1 invest in a good cooler

> 3 dayI bought this product thinking I could get more performance. Could not get it to work with my system. My product did not work as described, so I returned it. Amazon has refused return and charged my card. Do not buy this product from amazon.

> 3 dayAfter building two different I9 computers and ryzen 7 4700g have to say this is a solid and very fast cpu. The combination of drawing less power yet out powering the others tell a story of a fantastic architecture.
