Never connected through the USB. It did teach me to make sure an item is functioning properly before the return window expires. I ended up purchasing the IEIK Leonardo through Amazon and it works great. Also its less expensive.

I bought this board to upgrade my handbrake because the board that comes with the sim handbrake delay the input even when I adjust the sketch it still delayed. So I decided purchase this board and its amazing, this board executive the sketch very quickly....it made me fall in love with my handbrake now. Great board for your handbrake sim upgrade mod

The arduino leonardo I got was sealed in its packaging, all expected documents etc were there. The board took a little work to configure, as it had an older version of the boot loader - or maybe its just windows 8.1 and I dont know 100% what Im doing right? Either way, the board works, it got here fast, the price was decent, comparable to other sites etc. Beats buying it at radioshack for a markup!

Being a PIC guy I thought I would never buy an Arduino. But the thing is: it is ready. Nothing to design, etch or solder. It simplifies most of your problems... If you need something more from your boards, design one using a PIC24. If you`re considering using something simpler, stick to the arduino.

this is the real arduino, the best thing about it is that it connect to the computer via a micro usb cable witch is the most common usb cable, and its the same size of the arduino uno so all uno shield would fit on this leonardo.....

This is an excellent Arduino Leonardo with Headers. I bought two of them for my robot projects. Im glad I found them because they are hard to get. I had some old robot projects that required the Leonardo. So, Im very happy to get them at this low price. I inspected both of them very carefully. They were in perfect condition.

Great board. Used for Robot Tank. Eventually had to upgrade to a Mega to incorporate all the Servos and sensors I needed. Worked great paired with Adafruit Motor Shield V2

Each Arduino has its own unique set of features while maintaining the compatibility that defines the Arduino standard. Leonardos strong suit, for me, is its ability to communicate with two serial IOs at the same time for a couple of bucks more than the workhorse UNO. This saves a lot of time when talking to the Arduino thru the USB port and the Arduino talking to another serial device (e.g., a XBee radio) at the same time. No more plugging and unplugging USB cables every time you want to change a line of code. WOW!

ABOUT ARDUINO

Arduino is the world’s leading open-source hardware and software ecosystem. The Company offers a range of software tools, hardware platforms and documentation enabling almost anybody to be creative with technology.

Originally started as a research project by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles, Tom Igoe, Gianluca Martino, and David Mellis at the Interaction Design Institute of Ivrea in the early 2000s, it builds upon the Processing project, a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts developed by Casey Reas and Ben Fry as well as a thesis project by Hernando Barragan about the Wiring board.

WHY ARDUINO?

Why1Why1

Why2Why2

Why3Why3

Why4Why4

Inexpensive

Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms. The least expensive version of the Arduino module can be assembled by hand, and even the pre-assembled Arduino modules cost not so high.

Simple, clear programming environment

The Arduino Software (IDE) is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users to take advantage of as well. For teachers, it"s conveniently based on the Processing programming environment, so students learning to program in that environment will be familiar with how the Arduino IDE works.

Open source and extensible software

The Arduino software is published as open source tools, available for extension by experienced programmers. The language can be expanded through C++ libraries, and people wanting to understand the technical details can make the leap from Arduino to the AVR C programming language on which it"s based. Similarly, you can add AVR-C code directly into your Arduino programs if you want to.

Open source and extensible hardware

The plans of the Arduino boards are published under a Creative Commons license, so experienced circuit designers can make their own version of the module, extending it and improving it. Even relatively inexperienced users can build the breadboard version of the module in order to understand how it works and save money.

Message from Massimo Banzi - co-founder

“The Arduino philosophy is based on making designs rather than talking about them. It is a constant search for faster and more powerful ways to build better prototypes. We have explored many prototyping techniques and developed ways of thinking with our hands.”
