Ive worked with a lot of firmware devices and this one was by far the easiest the work with, their software is C++ based and it plugs right in to the USB port, and just works, well, I did have to download a windows 7 driver for it, but after that, plug it in and upload the code. Even reading directly from the pins with time sensitive stuff was easy, I just set the pin to input and then scan the pin after a few microseconds until it changes states. Im going to order more of these for some other projects.

This is an authentic Arduino. I was concerned because it was priced lower than most other vendors, but it is truly authentic and a quality product.

Great board. Used for Robot Tank. Eventually had to upgrade to a Mega to incorporate all the Servos and sensors I needed. Worked great paired with Adafruit Motor Shield V2

Hadnt ever used an Arduino before...fun project, works fine.

Picked up for learning purposes as well as for fun. Electronics have been a hobby for a long time now and I wanted to go further than just simple projects. There is so much online support for open source hardware that if you get stuck someone may be able to help you out.

Wow the most advanced Serial EVER !!, really is the new way for using serial data in the arduino, I worked with Decimilia and clones, the serial direct. This affected me because of old code I wrote and use from the web. So now I stumble with a RX LED Fixed and non-responsive Leonardo. But just check the literature in arduino.cc Leonardo and worked just fine.

I bought this board from CanaKit for my little brother who is using it for his coding project/hobby. He was extremely excited the day it arrived (sat by the door waiting for the mail all day). He has assured me that it is an authentic board - as I had some concern regarding knock-offs and fakes due to other customer feedback.

    Great unit

I bought this so I could create a macro keyboard (this board appears as a HID to the computer it is attached to). Had it up and running within an hour. Especially liked the dedicated SCL and SDA pins. One thing to be careful of is resetting the board, will result in a new com port assignment - making loading a sketch a little more difficult until you get used to this.

ABOUT ARDUINO

Arduino is the world’s leading open-source hardware and software ecosystem. The Company offers a range of software tools, hardware platforms and documentation enabling almost anybody to be creative with technology.

Originally started as a research project by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles, Tom Igoe, Gianluca Martino, and David Mellis at the Interaction Design Institute of Ivrea in the early 2000s, it builds upon the Processing project, a language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts developed by Casey Reas and Ben Fry as well as a thesis project by Hernando Barragan about the Wiring board.

WHY ARDUINO?

Why1Why1

Why2Why2

Why3Why3

Why4Why4

Inexpensive

Arduino boards are relatively inexpensive compared to other microcontroller platforms. The least expensive version of the Arduino module can be assembled by hand, and even the pre-assembled Arduino modules cost not so high.

Simple, clear programming environment

The Arduino Software (IDE) is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users to take advantage of as well. For teachers, it"s conveniently based on the Processing programming environment, so students learning to program in that environment will be familiar with how the Arduino IDE works.

Open source and extensible software

The Arduino software is published as open source tools, available for extension by experienced programmers. The language can be expanded through C++ libraries, and people wanting to understand the technical details can make the leap from Arduino to the AVR C programming language on which it"s based. Similarly, you can add AVR-C code directly into your Arduino programs if you want to.

Open source and extensible hardware

The plans of the Arduino boards are published under a Creative Commons license, so experienced circuit designers can make their own version of the module, extending it and improving it. Even relatively inexperienced users can build the breadboard version of the module in order to understand how it works and save money.

Message from Massimo Banzi - co-founder

“The Arduino philosophy is based on making designs rather than talking about them. It is a constant search for faster and more powerful ways to build better prototypes. We have explored many prototyping techniques and developed ways of thinking with our hands.”
