Drill America 3/8-16 UNC High Speed Steel Tap Set

Machining brass these work great. These taps do not list the H value for pitch size, example H1 is .0005 inch over nominal pitch diameter each value add .0005 inch. Most taps are made at a H2 or H3 value. These seem to be H3 work very nice and you cant beat the price. These are 4 flute, hand taps, tapping block is recommended, get any tap sideways and good bye tap. The shank diameter is above the minor diameter so thru tapping past the end of thread is not possible, you would need a special taps for that, this is not it. Nice tap set great for hobby work, professionals dont guess at pitch sizes.

I spent over 10 years in a machine shop and can say these are legit taps. Not the cheap carbon ones...these are HSS and ground well. True gun tap, bottom tap and plug taps.

These tap are marked HSS and seem to be well made. Im threading in Bakelite so they should last awhile.

Just what I needed.

I expected to get a pack of three bottoming taps like the photo indicates. I had searched for bottoming taps and when I saw a photo with three bottoming taps I ordered it. Needless to say I was surprised to discover that only one of the taps is a bottoming tap. The others are a tapered tap and a plug tap. I went back to the original sales description and scanned through all the photos. In every photo where three taps are displayed side by side all the taps are flat nosed indicating that they are bottoming taps, however, in one of the photos the set is described as consisting of one bottoming tap, one tapered tap and one plug tap. Note to seller: when you display a set of items that are different from each other then display the items contained in the set and not a photo of one item repeated three times.

The taps look OK. I have not yet used them. However, a set of 3 was advertised and I only got 2 in the package. It was not worth the effort to try to return them, but I feel cheated.

I needed a bottom and plug tap for 8-32 metal/jewelry working and it took awhile to get all 3 types in one item and purchase price separately was not as good as this offering. They look perfectly all right, so it was felicitous.

Always a great product. Never had any issues. Keep em lubed.

This three tap set could be very useful however the set was supposed to include a taper, plug, and bottoming tap. The set I received included two taper and one plug tap. No bottoming tap was included.
