If Only It Were True

This is the first book I have read by Marc Levy. Such a creative story. I now intend to work my way through the rest of his books.

I think the title says it all. It was hard to put the book down. A great read with a feel good finish.

Reminds me of the famous Fred Allen line about early television being chewing gum for your eyes. (See also, Frank Lloyd Wright, Chewing gum for the mind.) This book is light, entertaining, funny and mercifully short. For many, that might be the epitome of a good read and why Marc Levy is so wildly popular. Good not great. The plot is so familiar an intelligent reader can practically write the ending by about page 75, if not sooner. Which may be better than slugging your way to a book with a convoluted or desperate resolution. Buy it and judge for yourself.

I love this book and read many times. If I want relax day, this book and cup of tea is always my choice.

Really fun book on CD to listen to. Good story line with good narration. Great memorable quotes throughout the book. I actually listened to it twice.

I understand this is the authors first book, so I can overlook the need for better editing. I did enjoy the story, as it was slightly different than the movie, Just Like Heaven, which I loved and bought on DVD years ago. The story dragged in places, so it wasnt a total page turner for me. It took me a long time to read it through as I read a few pages at a time. I thought the plot was imaginative and different, the characters were well thought out and written. Its a good first book. I have another book by this author so Im looking forward to seeing an improvement in his writing and editing.

To me the premise, the characters, and the cute dialog were almost too much for me but I somehow managed to finish the book. I did not identify with any of the characters. Nothing about this romantic romp was believable, and without belief, there can be no connection, at least not for me. Very light-weight dialog. Sorry, but not my idea of a good novel.

So many reviewers were disappointed in the ending. I thought the end was very appropriate. Enjoyed the book , it was an easy and fast read and all the characters were likeable.

Characters are interesting ; plot is total fantasy without rhyme not reason. You become interested in fate of characters but plot fails to make sense.
