Good Story kept my interest but predictable! Bought it to donate to my local library, I listen to books on tape while I work!

I was greatly disappointed in this book and would not reccomend it at all. It has a cute premise but terrible execution for 3 main reasons. first, the medical info and situations are completely bogus. He clearly is writing what he knows nothing about, and it makes the book unbearable and ridiculous for anyone who knows about medicine. Its fine to write from the standpoint of a lay person interacting with the medical system, but not to learn a few terms and pretend to know what they mean and torture them to make the story work the way you want. second, the silly and tidy wrap up to the whole legal/police angle was just so idiotic that it spoiled any enjoyment of the story. Again, its great to incorporate magical realism as a plot device, but not have the real people in the story doing incomprehensibly stupid stuff. Thirdly, the author got lazy with dialogue, which he actually does well when he bothers- he continually relied (especially in the section in the end about Arthurs childhood) on the narrator to tell the reader what the characters were saying to each other and how they were telling it, instead of presenting the dialogue. The characters were 2 dimensional and precious, and I only finished it because not doing so would have been the bigger waste of time (but close call!). I dont ususally write such negative reviews but I bought this book based on the positive ones and I wouldhope the next reader gets a more balanced view.

Found this author this morning, checked out the sample of this book, then bought the rest of it... Yep, wiped it out in one sitting! If Only It Were Only True kept me flipping pages, wondering what happens when every belief we have becomes confronted with our realities. Im now following Marc Levy and am going to read his other books also. I read a lot but this is the first time Ive ever reviewed anything. Give this novel a shot, you might just like it as much as I did.

I liked the story interactions between the characters and how hard it was to put the reading of the book down. I really liked the time changing years and how the end surprised me. I really like Marc Levys books.

Really enjoyed this story of spiritual love. The plot required a total suspension of disbelief. Very moving and lovely. I will definitely read more of this authors work.

He is a wonderful and imaginative writer of fanciful fiction. This was his 1st book and I think others are even better.

This is the 2nd book I have read by this author and my soul has been touched. The first was the Strange Journey of Alice Pendelbury. After reading that I had to read more. But it was no fluke, this man brings out thoughts and feelings I didn’t realize still existed in me. You must do yourself this favor and read his books!!
