Unfortunately delidding(voiding your warranty) is pretty much required to get decent thermals or overclocks. Now that the 8086K is out youre not likely to get an 8700K that can hit higher than 5GHz.

I waited a while to replace my old i7 processor (1st gen) I almost bought the 8700k but glad I waited. I ordered this 8086k as soon as it was announced. I have an Aorus Gaming 5 motherboard with Corsair !6Gb RAM, Corsair Hydra H75 water cooler. I have a 8Gb RX480 Nitro video card. I’m not a gamer, I’m a photographer so Lightroom and Photoshop performance is my concern. Let me tell you it’s fantastic. Imports, previews, exports are lightning fast. Best choice for me by far. I obtain 5Ghz without any effort at all and stays a cool 29-34 degrees Celsius.

Ended up returning for a 9900K as I wanted the top end and Amazon got them in stock for regular price shortly after I ordered the 8700K. My friends are rocking the 8700K in their rigs and have nothing but praise for it.
