Bought this about 3 hours after it became available, went on back order immediately. It arrived 6 days later. Not as difficult to get as most think. Pretty fast! It is not such a great leap from my old system, over hyped! Just wait till the dust settles and the cheaper boards come out. If A had not owed me for a seperate CS issue, I would not have bought this. Cost me less than 300. Not the norm I know.

Excellent processor for the price. 6 cores for under $400 is not bad at all. My Extreme 3960X was $1K and had the same core and it had stability issues when it was OC over 4.25ghz. With this CPU it overclocked right out of the box @ 4.7ghz using water cooling; stays @30C @ underload, around 41-42C. while gaming and running stress tests. I have run through no issues with this cpu. Its stable and runs at cool for a 6 core non extreme chip.

I went from a 4790 to this. While I havent seen too much of an uptick in gaming FPS, everything else began running much more smoothly (chrome, editing software) and having extra CPU to go around definitely makes this a worthy purchase in my book

The speed is insane coming off from a i5 4690K. Overclocked this i7 8700K @ 5.1ghz and everything is stable, could probably go even higher. Easy to setup in the ASUS Rog Strix Gaming E BIOS. Got the Corsair H150i AIO cooler and 4 Corsair HD120 fans to ventilate this beast and staying at around 35-55 C temp.

Be sure to check the actual processor when you open the box. I received an i7-7700k inside of an i7-8700k box. Will update review when replacement is received from Amazon.

very disappointing, I was expecting to be able to overclock this to atleast 4.7... ended up at 4.5 with avx 1. I didnt want to go any higher with voltages already at 1.4. I tried everything to get it the voltage down but this processor wasnt having it.
