I purchased this case for extra protection for the drive when I travel. First time I tried to use it the band that holds the drive in place it broke. Then I closed the case and the zipper broke because the drive is actually too big for the case.

I placed my external hard disk inside this case and by accident I dropped it from a distance of about 5 inches and there was no protection. I dont think there is a safe distance for an external hard disk to be dropped if it lands on its edge, maybe if it lands on a side then it might be protected.

Exact fit for my external hdd, and very compact good for travelling, and very durable.

If you plan on using this for portable hard drives, do not bother. I have a very small one and it does not fit well, It is a very nice case, but the design does not allow the drive to fit strapped it, it just lays inside and you close it.
