My cmputer travels with me often. This hard shell case has some pading and elsti straps to old the drive in place.

The WD My Passport fits snuggly, very snuggly, in this case. I was expecting a hard shell; this case is flexible. Still, with the air bubbles surrounding the drive, it should be okay. The area for the USB cable will accommodate up to 3 feet if you arrange the cable just so. I found that, after winding the cable into a 3 circle, arranging the two ends upwards in a U on the sides was the best fit. After placing this in my work tote bag over the weekend, I notice that the slight padding on the cable side is permanently indented with the shape of the cable and some of the bubbles on the flap have flattened out. Time will tell how long this will last. Its still better than the suede zippered pouch I was using.
