The product snapped when trying to punch the stud I was trying to hit. I’ve ordered a replacement we’ll see how this one goes

I bought these for mandala painting on rocks. I bought them because they were inexpensive, and well reviewed by other rock decorating enthusiasts. I am happy with my purchase. These arrived as indicated after the order. NOTE: they are coated in a grease, and the grease washes off with dish soap and water, wiping after with a paper towel. The plastic base does NOT need to washed, but if you decide to do that, save the screws in something so they do not get lost, or roll away from you. NOTE: these appear to be powder coated, and running my thumb over the bases to be sure they were flat (for mandala painting) I found several that were not, so I sanded them lightly with some fine grit wet/dry sandpaper, and they came back to flat very quickly. The hammer ends (not the pointy end) are slightly beveled, and I made no attempt to sand the bevels, they looked and felt fine. NOTE: I took the advice of another reviewer, and put the largest punch in with my other dotting tools, and moved each punch up one hole so that they slide easily out of their slightly bigger holes. Additional note: wipe the paint off these punches before replacing into their rack, as the paint will dry on the tool and then you will not have flat ends without going back to the sandpaper for a much more extensive cleaning. This is a Good Practice for all your painting tools, of course.

Pros: Makes a mark just about anywhere, used on wood, mild steel, aluminum, even some cobalt steel just as a test. Even on lightest tension setting it puts a dimple on some cobalt steel drill bits. The dot on the left is high tension the dot on the right is lowest. Cons: Tensioner doesnt really adjust how much of a dimple you put in an object or really how much force it takes. There is a difference when pushing just not much of one.

I have had other Center Point spring loaded punches in the past and it seems like the end of them is too small for your palm this ones great just do the fact thats got a large red palm end that fits in your palm so you can really get some pressure on it to find where you need to punch.

I found this to become extremely handy. You can use this for several different applications. Great tool to add into your tool belt or tool box. Not sure if it’s a good value. A bit pricey.
