Snow cones have been a childhood favorite of mine. When I found this Nostalgia piece, I got excited about making new memories with my family and friends. I admit that when the snow cone machine arrived, its small size and flimsy plastic door made me doubt its ability. I have only used it during one family gathering, but so far I am pleased with the overall results. It was a ,crowd pleaser. It is also easy to use and clean. It takes up little space on the kitchen counter. Be gentle with the little plastic door and it will be a family favorite for you too. If I was to only get one use out of it... it is worth it. However, I believe that it will be my families favorite for many more occasions to come!

It works for the occasional shaved ice treat. Not like snow. It makes a fine micro chip sort of texture but not quite the snowy & lofty thing you get from block shaving. The icecube thing is convenient though.

I was a little concerned because some of the reviews mentioned texture and that the ice did not shave down that much, but I went ahead and bought it anyway. I already had a big shave from another company that makes the fluffy ice and that thing is a pain to use. The best thing about the Nostalgia one is that you use regular ice maker ice. You dont need a special mold like my other machine. I start out with crushed ice from my icemaker, I am not sure if this helps but I feel like it does. The texture is not like the fluffy ice, its more like those rainbow snow cones you get from the ice cream truck. And to fill it up like the picture would take opening it and filling it 15 times. Each time you fill it. I use a 16 oz glass of crushed ice and it maybe makes 3 snow cones. It doesnt hold much in the chopper part. I initially got it for an outside summer party. I have since used it almost every day. I have 5 kids and its been a hot summer so far. I like the look of it, I have just left it on the counter. I feel like the shelf is useless and the door feels like its going to snap when you open or close it but it works. When I am done, I scoop out most of the ice and just lay it on its side and let it drain into the sink and then I wipe it out. Very easy. Even if it only lasts the summer, I feel like I got my moneys worth out of it.

I got this as an afterthought for my kids birthday, just to try to make it a little more celebratory since we cant have a party during a pandemic. It turned out to be just the thing! Weve kept it out in the kitchen since the party and are still enjoying it. It functions really well and makes really nice fluffy snow. But there isnt a drain feature to let out extra water after leftover ice melts. A drain would make it better, but really, its enough fun that I dont mind the cleanup. I also bought the Shave-ice-syrups 12.7oz Snow Cone Syrups (6 Pack W/Cups/Straws), and I recommend those as well.
