> 3 dayAwesome little guy. Running Untangle flawlessly. Did have to shut down some dpi to get full bandwidth, but that’s me being stingy with my gigabit link.

Greater than one weekBought this for running Untangle firewall at home. CPU sits at less than 1% all day. Only complaint is the unit does run very warm to the touch. Performance has been excellent to date and all features of Untangle seem to be supported with this hardware.

> 3 dayI didn’t have any problems running this box with opnsense. Everything worked out fine configuring as a firewall.

> 3 dayStarted out with 1 vault, planned to have 2 vaults for managing 2 locations. The first one came with bad RAM and bad CPU.

19-12-2024Does all I want it to do. openvpn lets encrypt hardware encryption. Runs very warm but it seems to be no big deal. If it bothers you slap a cheap quiet fan on top of the heat sink and call it a day. Will run cool in my experience. Your mileage may vary.

> 3 dayI had PFsense running on a 4 core computer that drew about 54 watts, according to my Kill A Watt. I already had the ram and the mSATA drive, and now the Protectli Vault does the same work using 10 watts.

> 3 dayI bought this for use as a firewall because it has four built in network ports, and is smaller than my network switch. Even though it is running a slow processor, it still has more horsepower than I need for running pfsense. The box does get warm to the touch, running in the low 40s C for a temperature. The thing I like best is that it just keeps running. Pfsense works extremely well with this hardware.

20-12-2024Got this to protect a 1U server in colo. 100Mbps symmetrical on the WAN and a few VLANs to route. CPU performance is OK for the wattage but cant touch a bigger box for VPN or IDS/IPS performance. Its perfect for what I need though.

> 3 dayPurchased the no memory or HD model. Except for USPS punching holes into the outer box, the inner box was intact and well packaged. The device is solid and after removing 4 screws, the bottom plate can be lifted off. Inside, well organized and easy to drop in memory and msata card. Theres a SATA plug but clearly no room. However, you could skip the bottom plate and have the sata drive outside. When ordering, the pictures show a power brick. I was expecting a brick with 3 prong plug but got a universal wall plug which doesnt fit on my UPS. @protectli - did the one i receive get mispackaged?
