Love love love this pack! It took me 15 years to replace my old backpack. This backpack is amazing! It’s roomy, it fits all my gear (I’m a USPS carrier) very functional and efficient -highly recommend!! Especially like how you can operate the zipper with one hand. I can fit my lunch and all extra supplies and gear in here and still have extra room. But it doesn’t feel like it’s too big. Perfect!!

My teenage son has used this backpack for a year. It still looks brand new even with filling it up everyday with school books (does not have lockers at his school). When I say fill up with books, I don’t mean a couple books. I’m talking he can’t put anything else in it because it is filled up (7 different classes with 2 English books). The seams are all still intact with no signs of stress.

I have ~20 backpacks, but Ive been flying more often lately and wanted one I could keep my laptop in while passing through airport security. Ive had this for a month or two, but just did my first flight with it. Sure enough I was able to keep my laptop in the bag: I unzipped the clamshell and laid it out open on the belt, with the laptop in its own compartment on one side and everything else in the other half of the clamshell. It passed through security just fine. So as a travel bag it did what I wanted. Sweet! As a backpack, its very good. Its super-sturdy. The handle is actually rigid metal covered with rubber, so its indestructible and will never fail no matter how much you weight you put in the bag. The zippers and zipper pulls are rugged. I have no worries about this bag wearing out anytime soon. And it has plenty of pockets, so you can distribute the weight around and keep smaller stuff organized and accessible. My only minor complaint is that the actual laptop compartment is way thicker than I need, and the main compartment of the bag is therefore somewhat smaller than I might wish. I have a 15 MacBook Pro, which is ~3/4 thick. The laptop compartment has so much padding that it seems to be 4 times thicker than my laptop. The laptop stayed secure, and was definitely well protected, but I felt like the padding wasted a fair bit of space. So much so that the main compartment doesnt hold quite as much as my other backpacks with laptop compartment do. You can still get a couple of books in there plus some other stuff, so it holds enough. But given the size of the backpack, it felt like too much of the volume was given to the laptop compartment vs. the main compartment. Since TSA regulations state the laptop has to be in a compartment by itself, you cant stick anything else in with the laptop, so that empty space is wasted. But thats just a minor annoyance. Its a great bag, and it got me through airport security a little bit easier and a little bit faster, which is what I wanted it for. So Im happy with this purchase and have no problem recommending this backpack.

I have been using this backpack for almost a year now and I am really happy with the purchase. Swiss Gear makes great backpacks and is well worth spending the extra money to have a durable backpack that will last you for a very long time. I can manage to fit a lot of things in it without any issue for school or when I am going out on a trip. There is a lot of space and can put an extra laptop or device in it. There are plenty of compartments to it.

After an exhaustive search of backpacks online and in-stores, I ended up buying this one for school. It looks a bit bulkier than expected-but Im not complaining. For those of you wondering about how the backpack will look like on you and need a reference on height, I am 55. This backpack has no problem fitting in my 17 MacBook Pro (including its Vera Bradley Case) in the laptop compartment. On days I dont bring my laptop, I store a 1 inch binder in the laptop compartment. It also has an additional pouch across from the compartment for storing a tablet in which I use to store 3 or 4 regular sized folders. The main compartment of the of the bag can be used to store up to at least 4 binders and a textbook. For those of you who dont have a laptop, you can also store 2 more binders in the laptop compartment. Or, you can store a 2 inch binder, two 1 inch binders 1-5 folders, and still have room for a book. The main compartment of the bag also has an attached mesh zipper pocket across from it that can be used to store your chargers and what not. (Ive also packed the bag varying ways of how to hold your supplies for those of you who were wondering about storage.) I use the side compartments hold my glasses while I use the other to hold a hairbrush. I would prefer the straps to have a bit more support like the Jansport bags have - other than that, I have no complaints :)

I have been using my Swissgear backpack for a number of months now and could not be more pleased with it. Not long after buying this from Amazon, I was given a new laptop to use. My Original HP 17 laptop fit in it perfectly with some room to spare. The new Dell developer 19.5 laptop pushed the limits. At first I thought there was no way I was going to get it to fit. I then figured out the right method of sliding the bottom corner in first, then follow with the top corner. It then slid in the rest of the way with just a gentle tug at the last corner to get it to fit in. The zipper has been holding up great for the last several months with no trouble! I love the durability of this backpack. It holds everything I need, including a 19,200 ma backup batter pack for my peripheral recharging needs. I cant say enough nice things about it, Enjoy yours!

Im on my second of these backpacks, the first lasted 3 years before a zipper started to give out - see my only gripe below. The biggest attraction of these backpacks is the Scansmart feature. This allows you to leave your laptop in the dedicated compartment during TSA screening. The whole bag clam-shells open so that the laptop portion is by itself with the top portion being a see through mesh. There are plenty of compartments in this bag - plenty of room for just about anything you might need as carryon. I typically travel with a laptop and a netbook (the netbook has to come out, unfortunately), both power supplies (the laptop one is *huge*) a special control surface, cables, mice and all the typical kipple of a business traveler. It typically runs 30-35 pounds loaded, which is the main source of my single complaint. My laptop is 17.3 desktop replacement type and it barely fits. This ends up with a stress point on the zipper in the upper corner, which is only made worse by the excess weight. The zipper teeth finally developed a problem with letting loose in that area, so I replaced the bag. If you dont push the limits like this, this bag should last you indefinitely. Even if you do, its still a good choice - it took 3 solid years of abuse before it started to fail. I cant decide whether to order my next bag now and mothball it, or hope they come out with a slightly larger one in the next 3 years.

I have used many different types of laptop bags usually over the shoulder Tumi or Targus laptop bags throughout my career. I started to notice that my back was starting to hurt and the doctor said that it was probably from lugging my laptop around. He suggested that I try a backpack style bag. I tried several brands of backpack style laptop bags which truthfully mostly work the same in that it puts the weight on both shoulders. However, I liked how the pocket compartments were in this SwissGear. I also really like the ScanSmart system whereby I can just unzip the backpack and it folds flat to expose the laptop without having to take it out. There are 2 file compartments for putting file folders in. There are 2 pockets on each side which can be used for a water bottle or other miscellaneous items. The outer pocket has a fairly generous amount of space. The only thing I would have liked would have been another zippered compartment inside the outside pouch. But this is a minor technicality and I would highly recommend this backpack!

I have been using this backpack for about an year now and personally, its an amazing backpack for me. I was in school when I bought this and now I am working, so it has seen all kinds loads from just a tablet in it to a overload of camping items. The bag kind of has only one useful big area to keep your books and stuff. The laptop zip can fit a 15.6 inch laptop (Mine is a 15.6 Lenovo Ideapad). But anything bigger than that will not fit. It has a very convenient welcrove supported holder for the laptop. I have used this bag to overload it with items while I was relocating, so having a smartscan zip was very convenient in the airport. Whatever is grey in front, glows in the dark, so it works as a reflector if you use a bike to commute. Overall, I am very happy with the bag and the load it can take.
