Greater than one week.. but OK I guess. Im now urged to replace the old tech HD with an SSD (for more speed). The boot time actually seems longer than with half the RAM. At first, I thought the MacBookPro (mid-2012, 13-in) couldnt recognise any RAM above 8GB, but system generated hardware info definitely shows two sticks of 8GB each (whereas previously it showed two of 4GB). Official info from Apple states that this model will only take 8GB max, but other sources put the max possible at 16GB, so I went ahead on the strength of the advice of the latter. In any case, Ive only been using the Mac on double the RAM for a few hours, and it does seem to display the spinning beachball less than before. In a nutshell: so far, so .. um .. OK.

> 3 dayHad no problems installing it or with the Mac recognizing it. Performance with the addition of 16GB to an older backup Mac (2011) desktop shot up immediately. Other than Mac OS upgrade limitation due to older model, the memory added more life to this outdated Mac by at least 2-3 years, maybe more.
