I decided to add an update. Should have done this some time ago but finally getting around to it. I used artist-grade colored pencils and Micron to create my set and loved this wood to work on. Both the pencils and pen go on well because to wood is so well prepared. I am know going to get another set and make some more! Each piece of the Matryoshka is sanded beautifully and there are no knots or glaring imperfections. They are already lightly marked with a small pencil line so you know where the tops and bottoms should line up. They were packed in bubble wrap in a very nice and sturdy box. I am a colored pencil artist and am finishing a set that has wood thats nowhere near the quality of this one so Im looking forward to working with this. I would definitely recommend this product!

Smaller than I was expecting but great quality. Smooth and easy to paint.

These arrived super fast and Im pleased with the quality. Theyre nicely sanded, fit together snugly, but not too tight, and were clearly made with care. My daughter is painting them for me, since shes an artist I cant wait to see what she creates, I know it wont be traditional or run-of-the-mill, shes very creative so Im sure it will be lovely...and made much easier by the good quality of these nesting dolls.

Had some sawdust inside, but beautifully turned. I look forward to painting them.

Cracks were found on the surface of the largest of the seven dolls. I decided to use it just because the process of exchange or refund is complicated. Woodworking can be done and bonded with woodworking bond

When I purchase something like this I expect it to arrive in a box. These dolls arrived in a bubble-wrapped envelope which I then had to box myself. None of the dolls had actually been cleaned either, so there were wood shavings in almost every one of them. If you buy these as a gift, dont expect them to arrive in a ready condition to be wrapped up as a present.

Didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never painted a 3D object before—craftsmanship of the dolls were excellent. Not a single complaint. All the pieces felt sturdy and fit together with ease. Surface was easy to paint on. No wood defects. Gifted my first project and bought a 2nd set to also paint and gift.

Of course I understand that in order to make these they have to be thin, but the bottom of one broke while painting, like it was paper, so cheap wood is the next thing I can think of, otherwise pretty good.

The smallest one is very tiny barely 1/2 inch high so be aware. Otherwise great quality; I cant wait to paint them.

These are so fun! My kids were thrilled. They are completely blank and you get to paint them however you’d like.
