This is described as a hard case, but if you step on it you will definitely destroy what is inside. I would say it is more like a rigid soft case. This is definitely enough to protect when it is bouncing around inside a bag.

My friends are jealous of this convenient little case that fits my WD My Passport Ultra 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0. Its sturdy enough to keep the HD safe, although it would be crushed if someone stepped on it. I travel a lot and this case is perfect for my backpack. There is about 1/2 to spare in length and maybe 1/4 in width around my Passport Ultra 2TB HD. Oh yes, and it was an amazing price. I think this case is as good as the ones that are doubled the price. Shop around and compare. Yes, I recommend it.
