This little tube is just enough paste to make sure you are getting good thermal transfer from the processor to the heat sink/cooler. You do not want to forget this step. If you do not put thermal grease between the heat sink and the processor the processor will most definitely fail prematurely due to overheating. The grease/paste compensates for the slight surface irregularities that will result in slight gaps between the interface of the two surfaces and ensures maximum thermal transfer between the two surfaces. Trust me, you need this.

working great for my cpu cooler, it didnt take much to do the job. A little bit goes a long way.
