> 3 dayI finally pulled the trigger on this sucker. Literally and figuratively. I’d been eyeballing it for about 9 months after using a friends. It is everything I hoped it would be. We have a dog that sheds like it’s his job and 3 kittens that are equally as hairy. I was a bit concerned that being cordless would mean sacrificing a bit of suction. Nope. It’s as sucky as they come, if not suckier. It gets all the hair and dirt! I had purchased another brand (corded) vacuum less than a year ago and had nothing but problems with it. I used it right before opening the Dyson (which I have named Mike Tyson the Dyson by the way), then used the Dyson right afterwards… it was AMAZING how much stuff the old vacuum missed that I didn’t even realize. Our house is mostly hardwoods with some low pile carpeting and it works equally well on both. Another concern I had was the 40 minute run time. Would it be enough time for a full vacuum of my (2000+sq/ft) house? It is. A big part of the reason for that is because it’s SO easy to pull this thing off it’s charger and spot vacuum, I do it far more frequently. No more animal hair tumble weeds that magically appear overnight. The coolest feature is how all of the pieces snap in effortlessly. You can make it long or short and put different attachments on either. I can finally reach my porch ceiling without a chair or ladder! Also, if you need to bring it somewhere away from your house, you can detach it and still bring the cord if you need to charge it without using the docking station. This is obviously not an inexpensive buy, but in my opinion, it’s worth the money. I was sick of buying mediocre ones every couple of years. This comes with a 2 year warranty and lifetime assistance. I kept my eye on it and once the price went down to $399, I bought it. I’ve managed to talk 2 other friends into buying one since I bought mine 8 weeks ago and they are both equally as happy. It’s kind of weird how much I talk about vacuuming now! If you’re on the fence on what to buy, don’t be..

> 3 dayWeve relied on a full-sized Dyson vacuum (one of their Animal versions) for the past nearly 16 years and its still going strong. Last year we started to tire of dragging it up and down the staircase, and of using it to try to vacuum the carpeted stairs themselves. So, we got a promising stick vac from another major brand and it definitely made things easier. But, the suction wasnt as good as Dyson, and, the battery life was a little disappointing after the first several uses. When I saw that Dyson had released a new version of their new generation of stick vacuum, this V10 Animal, I wondered if it could deliver where the other brands stick vac had fallen short and if it could deliver an across the board consistently good user experience. As it turns out, the answer is a resounding yes! Battery life is exceptional, suction is superior even on the lowest of the three settings. Turning it up to medium or high via the slider switch puts it into an entirely different league. Emptying the dust cup is easy, thankfully, as between the hair on the animals and the hair on the humans and the regular household dirt/dust, I have to empty it reasonably frequently. That doesnt bother me though, as the fact that its getting picked up at a rate that exceeds what the previous stick vac was doing is absolutely a good thing! Clearing any hair that gets stuck on the beater bars (the full-width one or the smaller upholstery one) is so much easier than older generations of Dyson vacuum beater bars. Huge improvement! Just pop open the side hatch and pull the bar out, easy peasy. Do carefully inspect the gasket/guide on the end of the beater bar (I had some hair get trapped in there that ended up holding some regular dust, too) before sliding it back in and closing the hatch. Subsequent vacuum sessions resulted in next to no hair getting trapped on the bar, so apparently it only took one pass with the Dyson V10 to get what the other brands model couldnt. Again, thats pretty impressive to me. As part of putting the V10 Animal through its paces for this review, I took the cup apart and washed it and its gasket separately, as that appears to be the most complex part of the user maintenance. Im pleased to report that with careful attention paid to how the gasket is lined up when it comes off, it is very much possible to put it back in place after everything has dried for a day. Aligning the gasket grooves uniformly into the hard plastic channel thats partially obscured by the hinge was the most challenging part and took me three attempts before I realized how it was supposed to look when everything was aligned correctly. Ooops. I should have paid more attention. However, once it was properly in place, then the lid closed smoothly in a way that it wouldnt do with improper gasket placement. So, if you have to go that route and remove the gasket for cleaning purposes, take pictures and pay close attention as you remove the gasket, and dont try to force anything when putting it back together. It will close smoothly when everything is properly in place. The more you know, right? Cleaning the filter cap/stub thingy was simple, with a basic faucet rinse and a 24hr drying period. So much easier than our many generations old Dyson. Just make sure everything dries completely before you reassemble it... a wet vacuum filter that gets used is one that youll never get the smell out of (if you know, you know!). Using this Dyson V10 Animal was so easy... really a revelation. Its super-light, it made cleaning the carpeted stairs easier than I ever imagined they could be, and it takes after low and medium pile carpet like nobodys business. The included ends and accessories cover all the bases for us. I appreciate that both the full-width carpet beater bar head and the narrower upholstery beater bar head are both powered, rather than the little one relying on bypass air to spin it (as our old Dyson does). Getting cat hair off the furniture is so much more efficient now too! The wall mount holds the unit itself to charge (with the main tube and motorbar cleaner head left installed) plus two of the low-profile accessories right on the wall, leaving only the two more-dimensional ends needing to get stowed elsewhere. I wish that a little pouch had been included for them, but there are 3rd party stands out there that can hold everything if we get frustrated or need to rearrange the room where its hanging. Based on the amazing experience with this V10 Animal, its going into permanent use! If practical gifting is your thing (and your intended recipients wouldnt be offended by such practicality), this would make a great gift! Its so darned useful and functional and its given me back part of my weekend routine to be used for other purposes. Hard to argue with that!

> 3 dayThe name should say it all, but as a previous Dyson owner, i do have some features on this unit Id like to point out. I also have an older cordless dyson, and love some of the new features First off. Love the 3 suction settings. Low, high, and pull your socks off lol. Very nice to be able to control. You can save battery life by going low on hardwood floors for example. Second. Charges super fast, and it does stop charging when full. Prevents battery damage from overcharging. Has battery indicators on both side of the battery. Third. Love the easy release for the filter. Also love that it us washable. This is typical for these dysons. Forth. Emptying the can. Love this. With the older version, it could be hard to get stick dust that was too far up. Youd end up taking the whole thing apart. Not anymore. Theres s rubber gasket attached on the inside, that pushes the dust out as you push the release. If stuff gets past, do it one or two more times, voila. Empty. Fift. They did make the mount easier to put on the wall. Sixth. Love the new brushes. You can hear them thumping on the ground, and they look awesome. That blue purple color. Love it One negative. I wish the wall base could hold all the attachments. It can only hold 2 attachments. Where do I put the rest lol. Now the price is hefty. Its the norm for anything dyson. My old one listed years before the battery started going. But i also have the animal upright big boy vacuum for over 5 years. Great

> 3 dayI love it! Lift out of the charging station and vacuum! Light weight and very maneuverable. Powerful but surprisingly quite. Easy to change out assesories and easy to empty. A bit pricy but if it is durable then money well spent.

Greater than one weekIt is light weight, and has strong vacume power. I regret I didnt get it sooner. Only flaw is the battery does not last long if you use the max power mode. Overall, it is a great vacume.

> 3 dayI have been using a Dyson V7 vacuum for years and have been quite happy with it. I have even replaced the battery a few times. But it was finally time for an upgrade, so I ordered this new V10 model. I could tell as soon as I took it out of the box that it has much more power than my V7. The battery lasts a lot longer as well. This vacuum is equally at home on carpet or hardwood floors. You can also use it as a handheld vacuum to clean your car or get into tight spaces. With my V7 I would get frustrated that the battery would sometimes die before I was finished cleaning, so I would have to wait for it to recharge so I could continue. But I have never had that problem with this V10 since the battery lasts so long. Dyson vacuums are expensive, but at least in the case of the V10 I think its worth the cost. I highly recommend this model based on my experience with it so far.
